Annotating Quotations and Text Reuses (June 8)

June 8, 2016: 17h00-18h15 CEST

Monica Berti (University of Leipzig) and Stylianos Chronopoulos (University of Freiburg)

Summary

The aim of this session is to work with quotations and text reuses of ancient Greek and Latin authors and works. The session will focus on different possible ways for annotating in a digital environment this kind of textual phaenomena.

Session Plan

The session plan includes two different parts:

1. Citation ontologies (Stylianos Chronopoulos - 30 minutes)

2. Quotations and Text Reuses in the Deipnosophists of Athenaeus of Naucratis (Monica Berti - 30 minutes)

  • This part of the common session aims at showing how to work with information pertaining to quotations and text reuses within the Deipnosophists of Athenaeus of Naucratis. The work will be based on data extracted from digital versions of print indexes of the Deipnosophists (available at http://www.digitalathenaeus.org/).
  • Assignment (optional): disambiguate Casaubon-Kaibel references in Athenaeus' indexes (see "tools" in the Digital Athenaeus).
