Border Biomes

Savanna

The Savanna biome is a border area between a forest and a desert. Dirt with Grass spreads Esparto Grass to Sand within 30 tiles of it. Bare Sand converts Grass to Esparto Grass within 30 tiles of it. Sand with Esparto Grass on it is no longer affected by gravity until the Esparto Grass is removed. Savanna tiles are valid terrain to spawn both desert and forest enemies.

Taiga

The Taiga biome is a border area between a Forest biome and a Snow biome. Dirt with Grass spreads Podzol to Snow within 30 tiles of it. Bare Snow converts Grass to Podzol within 30 tiles of it. Taiga tiles are valid terrain to spawn both Snow biome and forest enemies. Taiga tiles are valid terrain to spawn both Forest and Snow enemies.

Wither

The Wither biome is a weaker version of the Corruption, serving as a warning that an area is in danger of being corrupted.

Corruption converts non-corrupted tiles to Wither tiles at a faster rate and further range than Corruption normally spreads itself. Wither, itself, does not spread. Corruption spreads to Wither tiles at the speed Corruption normally spreads to non-corrupted tiles.

Wither tiles are valid terrain to spawn Corruption enemies, though at a spawn rate lower than that of Corruption. NPCs can live in Wither, as Withered tiles do not contribute to a house's "Corruption/Crimson rating", and will sell any items that they would sell in a Corruption biome (in terms of vanilla content, this amounts to only the "Lightless Chasms" painting). If there is a vacant house built in the Wither biome, the Kishin NPC can move in.

Carnage

The Carnage biome is a "weaker" version of the Crimson, serving as a warning that an area is in danger of being corrupted.

Crimson converts non-Carnage tiles to Carnage at a faster rate and further range than Crimson normally spreads itself.

Carnage tiles are valid terrain to spawn Crimson enemies, though at a spawn rate lower than that of Crimson. NPCs can live in Carnage, as Carnage tiles do not contribute to a house's "Corruption/Crimson rating", and will sell any items that they would sell in a Crimson biome (in terms of vanilla content, this amounts to only the "Deadland Comes Alive" painting). If there is a vacant house built in the Carnage biome, the Maniac NPC can move in.

Lavender

The Lavender Biome forms at the intersection of Hallow with Corruption or Crimson. The biome has a pale violet color scheme. When Hallow and Crimson or Corruption are adjacent, Hallow tiles convert Crimson and Corruption tiles to Lavender tiles, and Crimson and Corruption tiles convert Hallow tiles to Lavender tiles. Lavender tiles are valid terrain to spawn Crimson, Corruption, and Hallow enemies, and at a spawn rate even higher than that of Crimson or Corruption.
