NPCs
Below is a list of all NPCs added in the Elasidel mod.
The Folklorist is an NPC that moves into any available housing after being rescued from petrification in a Marble Biome. Selecting the "Story" option in the dialogue window will have the Folklorist say a piece of lore from the Elasidel mod. If the player has a Lore Item¹, the Folklorist will trade it for the Treasure Bag of the boss that drops it, even in normal mode. The Folklorist will attack nearby enemies with a Water Bolt to defend herself. In Hardmode, she will upgrade to a Crystal Storm.

- "Books are fun, books are great, let's sit down with a book today!"
- "You put your hands in the air, and grab a bird from the sky, and eat it whole so that you may absorb its power of flight."
- "Well, sit right down, and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip..." (when in, on, or at Ocean)
- "Just take a look, it's in a book, a reading rainbow." (in Hallow)
- "The sun is mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace, where hydrogen is built into helium, at a temperature of millions of degrees." (during a Solar Flare)
- "Not a sports page, not a magazine, but a book, *****! A ****in' book, *****!" (during a Blood Moon)
- "Kosh kapleck Mog"? I think you mean "vay' blje'be'chugh vaj blHegh".
- <Name of Tavernkeep> knows some very interesting legends from Etheria. <Name of Dryad> has a story to tell, too; she found herself visiting, somehow!
- <Name of Angler> told me that he 'has a story about the time he caught a fish thiiiiis big!' Children have such wonderful imaginations.
- I've been trying to translate some ballads written by <Name of Witch Doctor>'s people. It's not easy keeping the rhyme and meter intact.
- Are you sure <\Name of Maniac> is trustworthy? I'm sure he's not like the other Face Monsters, but he's still a creature of the Crimson...
- Are you sure <\Name of Kishin> is trustworthy? I'm sure he's not like the other Eaters of Souls, but he's still a creature of the Corruption...
- While you fought the Wall of Flesh, I fought the Wall of Text. (Hardmode, pre-Mech)
- Wow, that's a lot of tchotchkes. There's a story behind every single one, I bet! (If the player has Serendipity)
- The guild of traveling merchants was founded in the days of yore by a band of forest-traipsing yeoman bowmen. While the merchants seldom use bows anymore, they still carry the ideals of their ancestors.
- A long time ago, a wizard tried to brew a potion that would strengthen his magical powers. After testing his first formula out on a rat, it turned out to make you better at shooting instead, so he had to start over. The weird part? That gunslinging rat is still out there somewhere!
- Deep underground, there are deposits of mineral calcium where the fleshless undead gather to chaw on the walls. So much necromantic energy in one place has has brought life to piles of fallen stalactites, which crawl around like arachnids.
- Not all people are humans, and not all humans are people. Appearances can be deceiving.
- Lifeforce courses through your soul like blood courses through your veins. If you've got any left at all, you're fine, but as soon as you run out, that's curtains for you.
- The difference between mana and imagination is that you can put mana in a can and shoot it out a nozzle, but imagination stays in the environment. They're both the same astral energy, though.
- Did you know some people lack the ability to come back from a death? It must take a lot of courage to go into battle knowing any mistake you make could be your last. One might even call it "hardcore".
- The Dungeon near the ocean has its cold, dark halls decorated with masterfully-done paintings. Sadly, the fate of the painter is a secret King Slime took to his grave. What was he covering up, I wonder? (Pre-Hardmode, after King Slime has been defeated)
- "The power of creation" might seem like a very mundane thing, but certain worlds don't have it. Can you imagine how boring it must be to live in a world where you can't even build your own house, or dig a tunnel through a hill? (if Tavernkeep is present)
- Souls have an anatomy almost as complicated and varied as bodies', but most people just label any part of them as "soul", since they never bothered learning about it. (Hardmode)
- Ossification is a nightmarish disease that slowly turns muscle to bone, reducing people to skeletons. The young can fight it off before it gets too bad, but elders don't have much of a chance. (Hardmode)

The Broker is an NPC that moves into any available housing if the player has a Defender Medal, XM Cube (any tier), Vanquisher Medal¹, Blank Glyph², or Lunar Coin³, and there are at least 3 NPCs in the world. Selecting the "Exchange" option in the dialogue window will have the Broker give the player one of the aforementioned currencies at the cost of ten gold coins. This can only be done once per character per in-game day, and the player can only receive a currency that at least one living NPC will currently accept. The Broker will attack nearby enemies with his Iodine Pen to defend himself.

- Why did I pursue this career, you ask? Hello, I like money!
- I don't take any plug nickels.
- Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it.
- Hold on, I gotta take this call... (Dad, I told you, I'm not a gambler, I'm an entrepreneur... Well, one's a job and the other's a mental sickness!)
- Put that coffee down, it's for closers only-- oh, it's you! Yeah, you can have some.
- It's not what you know, but who you know.
- "One of a kind"? No such thing.
- Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works.
- "The rich get richer, that's the law of the land." Hmm, maybe I should try selling land.
- Money doesn't buy happiness, but it does a lot to prevent misery.
- The price is right, so let's make a deal! ...Well? Deal or no deal?
- I hear there's a pyramid with ten thousand coins of treasure in it.
- I think we might be in jeopardy... (During a Blood Moon)
- Who wants to be a millionaire? (During a Solar Flare)
- The best art is the art of the deal. Well, that and interior decorating. (if Painter is present)
- Our taxes are weird. Is living here some kind of subscription service? (if Tax Collector is present)
- I tried to buy stock from <Name of Arms Dealer>, but I wound up the butt of his jokes.
- Odd that, in this day and age, people still barter. (if Angler or Dye Trader is present)
- <Name of Cyborg> tried to show me how he does markup; his version seems to involve a lot of brackets, slashes, and parentheses.
- Anything can be bought and sold for the right oil!
- That's quite the collection of antiques. As a buyer and seller of the rare and unusual, I respect that. (if the player has Serendipity)
- This is the genuine article, you have my guarantee.
- Sorry I can't get you more than this, but the exchange rate is nuts!
- I had to pull a lot of strings to get you this, and I don't mean the drawstrings on the sack.
- Ladies and gentlemen, we got it.
- Why are you biting it? That only works in cartoons.
- I had to pull a lot of strings to get you this.
- Sorry, it's gonna be awhile before the next one. (when on cooldown)
- Yeah, yeah, I'm working on it! (when on cooldown)
- Argh, why can't everyone just use regular money? (when on cooldown)

- "If any living creature eat or drink, a mouthful ere he has the time to think, though he took less than makes a grain of wheat, you’ll see him fall down dying at your feet." (in Hallow)
