Reown AppKit + Ethers 6 Migration
This release modernizes BlazorWalletConnect with Reown AppKit, Ethers 6, Avalanche support, improved theming, and a more reliable WalletConnect pairing flow.
Highlights
- Migrated from Wagmi to the official Reown Ethers adapter.
- Upgraded blockchain operations to Ethers
6.17.0. - Added Avalanche C-Chain mainnet support (
43114). - Fixed WalletConnect sessions getting stuck after scanning and approving the QR code.
- Added independent connect-button color customization.
- Updated the TypeScript and .NET dependency stack.
- Removed the reported
uuid@8.3.2vulnerability.
Wallet connection reliability
The npm dependency tree previously contained multiple physical copies of Reown controller and WalletConnect provider packages. AppKit and the Ethers adapter could therefore operate with different internal state, preventing an approved WalletConnect session from reaching Blazor.
This release:
- Deduplicates Reown singleton dependencies.
- Adds a build-time dependency integrity check.
- Waits for AppKit initialization before enabling wallet operations.
- Tracks the EIP-155 provider explicitly.
- Improves account, chain, reconnection, and provider subscriptions.
- Cleans up all subscriptions during disposal or reconfiguration.
Ethers 6 integration
Wagmi and direct Viem usage have been replaced with Ethers 6 APIs for:
- Native and ERC-20 balance queries
- Message signing
- Transaction submission and confirmation
- ERC-721 balance and ownership queries
- Token enumeration and transfer-event queries
- Read-only custom RPC providers
Existing Blazor interop method signatures remain compatible.
Avalanche support
Avalanche C-Chain mainnet is now supported:
options.Chains =
[
new(Chain.MainNet, "https://ethereum-rpc.publicnode.com"),
new(Chain.Polygon, "https://polygon-rpc.com"),
new(Chain.Avalanche, "https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc")
];AppKit theming
The release fixes AppKit color mixing by supplying the required mix-strength variable:
options.ThemeMode = "auto"; // auto, light, or dark
options.BackgroundColor = "#28363c";
options.AccentColor = "#3b82f6";
options.ColorMixStrength = 40;ColorMixStrength accepts values from 0 through 100.
Connect-button customization
The connect button can now use a color independent from the AppKit modal accent:
<WalletConnectButton
Label="Connect Wallet"
ShowBalance="true"
ButtonColor="#22c55e"
CssClass="wallet-connect-button" />ButtonColoraccepts any valid CSS color.CssClassis applied to the AppKit component host for layout and additional styling.AccentColorcontinues controlling the shared AppKit theme.
Build-system improvements
- TypeScript upgraded to
5.9.3. - esbuild upgraded to
0.28.1. - Removed obsolete Webpack, ESLint, Wagmi, Viem, and
Microsoft.TypeScript.MSBuilddependencies. - Added strict TypeScript checking.
- Added deterministic npm restore and bundle generation during MSBuild.
- Regenerated the checked-in production browser bundle.
- Updated the demo and deployment workflow to .NET 10.
Security
- Replaced vulnerable
uuid@8.3.2with a patched release. - Added automated dependency-layout validation.
npm auditreports zero known vulnerabilities.
Development experience
The development service worker now unregisters itself, preventing stale registrations from interfering with repeated Blazor WebAssembly debugging sessions. Published applications continue using the production service worker.
Validation
This release was validated with:
- 71 passing .NET tests
- 6 passing TypeScript tests
- Successful TypeScript strict type-check
- Successful Release solution build
- Successful NuGet package generation
- Successful Release demo publish
- Browser verification of AppKit theming and button customization
- WalletConnect QR and relay WebSocket verification
- Ethereum, Polygon, and Avalanche network configuration verification
- Zero npm audit vulnerabilities
Upgrade notes
No changes are required for existing IWalletConnectInterop consumers.
Applications can optionally adopt:
WalletConnectOptions.ColorMixStrengthThemeMode = "auto"- Avalanche through
Chain.Avalanche WalletConnectButton.ButtonColorWalletConnectButton.CssClass
After upgrading, perform a clean restore to ensure the corrected npm dependency layout is installed:
dotnet clean
dotnet restore
