Release list
Exo Browser 1.4.3
Exo Browser 1.4.3 fixes a page on screen that drew but ignored every click after a tab was put to sleep as you switched to it, and a reopen during close that handed the new start to the window that was leaving and then exited.

Every question a website asks is Exo's own now, confirms happen on the button you pressed, Settings and Exo Vault lose their sidebars, and Exo Browser reads each PC's memory, screens and battery right. Every number here was measured on the same PC.
- What sites ask, in Exo's own look. Edge drew a site's questions in its own boxes; now Exo does, in its glass and outside the page, naming the site that really asked. A page's alert, confirm, prompt and Leave site? are Exo's dialog ("example.com says"), and a page that asks three times in ten seconds gets no more until it opens another page. Camera, microphone, location, notifications, the clipboard and the rest ask under the address, Block first; your choice is kept for the site, and Settings › Privacy › Site permissions lists it with Reset. A notification request a page makes as it loads, with no click from you, is refused without asking. A link to another app asks first with the app's real name ("example.com wants to open Steam"), and link types used to run programs from a page never open. A site's sign-in box (a router's) is Exo's too. A page that can't be reached shows Exo's card with what went wrong and Try again, and a certificate that isn't valid adds Continue anyway, asked on the button. Verified on a throwaway profile against example.com and local test servers: each dialog answered the page as chosen, Block was kept and Reset cleared it, Escape refused once, a notification request with no click was refused with no prompt, a steam:// link asked "example.com wants to open Steam", the sign-in reached its test server, and the certificate card opened the page on Continue.
- Confirms happen on the button. Clear and Delete no longer open a dialog: the button you pressed becomes the question in red ("Clear and sign out?", "Clear 12 tabs?", "Delete it and 3 tabs?"), and a second press does it. Escape, a click elsewhere or four seconds put it back. Trash icons grow into the question. Verified on a throwaway profile: each armed, went back on Escape and after four seconds, and did its job on the second press.
- Settings in one column, and Search finds every setting. No section list and no grey lines explaining a setting: one column of sections in a narrower sheet. Type a setting's name or what it's about in Search ("dark", "font", "pip") and Settings opens at it, lit for a moment with its switch ready. Calm icons is Gray site icons. Verified on a throwaway profile: Search opened each setting and section at its place, its row lit and focused.
- Exo Vault, simpler. No sidebar: its views (logins, cards, password health, the trash, import and export, its settings) are a menu beside Lock, and its grey notes are gone. Password health shows how many logins each problem holds. Verified with a throwaway test vault.
- Fits your PC. A PC whose built-in graphics keep part of its memory is no longer counted a size smaller: a 16 GB PC with them on closed background tabs after an hour, as an 8 GB one; now after two. The first window is sized for your display scaling (on a 4K screen at 200% it was a quarter of the screen). A window that was on a monitor you've unplugged or changed opens wholly on a screen. On battery or with Energy Saver on, tabs you left stop running after five minutes instead of fifteen. Verified: 188,132 checks on 26 simulated PCs, 17 screen layouts and 45,000 random ones; two saved places on the second monitor opened fitted.
- The engine's built-in AI is off for sites. WebView2 let pages reach its Summarizer, Translator and language detector, which hung any site that used them and gave sites one more way to tell PCs apart. Sites now take the path they have for Firefox and Safari. The privacy policy also says that a site's voice typing sends what your microphone hears to Microsoft once you allow the microphone. Verified: none of them reach a page or its workers; the voice typing's destination seen in the engine's network log.
- Exo Shield on today's HaGeZi list: 211,671 domains.
- Exo Browser's source isn't published any more. Its GitHub page keeps the releases, the docs and the privacy policy; Exo Shield's source stays public, as its license wants.
- Bugs fixed.
- Under Windows' contrast themes, the tab strip, side tabs, Search's list, the vault's fill menu and the new tab page kept their scrollbars hidden. They show now, with their room kept. Verified with a contrast theme emulated.
- A silent install (
/S) opened Exo Browser even with/NOLAUNCH, and Setup dropped/DESKTOP=and/STATUSFILE=the same way. They reach the install now. Verified: a silent install with /NOLAUNCH opened nothing, and one without it opened the browser.
On 1.3.0 or later it's offered as the window opens. On 1.1.7 or later, Settings › About › Install update brings it in. On any earlier version, install it once from the download below.
