Upstate CLI 0.2.9

@rob-race rob-race released this 30 Oct 21:39

Kamal repos with more than one service on a destination (e.g. a Rails app plus a separate edge service) can now connect each service: hook settings are saved per service (.upstate/<service>.<destination>.json) and hooks report to the matching environment.

  • upstate connect --hooks-only adds deployment hooks to an already-monitored app without creating servers, observer credentials or Kamal config changes. --host ADDRESS=host_… links an address to an existing server.
  • Connect no longer creates a server from an unmatched address. It matches existing servers by saved ID or name, asks interactively, or accepts --host / --new-host.
  • Non-interactive connect without --observer leaves observers unchanged instead of defaulting to a Kamal accessory.
  • Connect reissues a deployment credential when the local one is missing; upstate doctor reports it.
  • observer remove, upgrade and switch refuse to guess when the service or destination is ambiguous.

Deploy the compatible server before upgrading this CLI (upstate.cloud is updated). Observer version remains 0.1.8. Verify archives against checksums.txt.

Upstate CLI 0.2.8

@rob-race rob-race released this 28 Oct 21:02

Framework detection now accompanies deployment reports from managed hooks and wrapped Kamal deploys. Phoenix detection covers multiline dependency tuples, Mix lockfiles, and umbrella children.

Deploy the compatible server before upgrading this CLI. Observer version remains 0.1.8. Verify archives against checksums.txt.

Upstate CLI 0.2.7

@rob-race rob-race released this 28 Oct 18:22

Safe observer removal and server retirement, with clear reconnect guidance for retired projects.

  • Reconnect restored observers with explicit credential replacement consent.
  • Preserve custom Kamal config and destination when recreating observers.
  • Verify service completion and fail closed when removal cannot be confirmed.

Observer installation remains pinned to 0.1.8. Verify downloads against checksums.txt.

Upstate CLI 0.2.6

Choose a tag to compare

@rob-race rob-race released this 26 Oct 20:24

Upstate CLI 0.2.6 installs observer 0.1.8 for new connections and observer upgrades. Observer 0.1.8 excludes HTTP 101 connection lifetimes from ordinary request latency aggregates.

Existing CLI sign-ins and account profiles are unchanged. Verify the four macOS/Linux archives against checksums.txt.

Upstate CLI 0.2.5

  • Servers where sudo needs a password (e.g. Hatchbox-built hosts): upstate connect --observer=systemd, upstate observer upgrade and upstate observer switch now stage the files as your SSH user and print one command to run as root (sudo sh ~/.upstate-observer/install.sh or su -c ...). The CLI never handles a password; the token never appears on screen.
  • --ssh-user USER on connect and observer overrides Kamal's ssh.user for observer work (e.g. --ssh-user root).
  • SSH failures now show the real reason (for example sudo: a password is required).

Upstate CLI 0.2.4

@rob-race rob-race released this 22 Oct 21:27
  • upstate connect --observer=systemd|kamal|manual: run the observer as a systemd service (recommended; keeps Upstate out of your Kamal config), a Kamal accessory, or install it yourself. The CLI shows every step and asks first.
  • upstate observer status|upgrade|switch --to systemd|kamal.
  • connect --account picks which saved login to connect; older projects now find and remember the account that owns them instead of following the default.
  • connect --help documents --url (your app's public URL) and --upstate-url.

Upstate CLI 0.2.3

@rob-race rob-race released this 22 Oct 19:02
  • upstate status shows each environment's framework, detected from project files (only the label is sent). status --all shows running instance counts ("web × 2").
  • upstate kamal and connect report the detected framework so Upstate shows Rails health only for Rails apps.

Upstate CLI 0.2.2

@rob-race rob-race released this 21 Oct 23:12

App health: upstate receipt shows an After deploy line (steady, regression, or not enough traffic); upstate status and status --all show error rate and p95 per environment, and flag pending Rails migrations. Kamal connect now uses observer 0.1.7.

Upstate CLI 0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@rob-race rob-race released this 21 Oct 19:59

Upstate CLI 0.2.1

Prebuilt CLI for macOS and Linux on Intel/AMD and ARM64.

  • upstate status --all shows every project, its environments, components, last deploy, health and open alerts on one screen, plus how many discovered components are not watched. --json for agents, --all-accounts for every saved login.
  • Only watched components count toward your plan; Kamal apps the observer finds but you never connected are listed as discovered.

Upstate CLI 0.2.0

@rob-race rob-race released this 21 Oct 18:30

Upstate CLI 0.2.0

Prebuilt CLI for macOS and Linux on Intel/AMD and ARM64.

  • upstate kamal … runs your own Kamal unchanged (same output, console and exit code). Deploys, redeploys and rollbacks produce receipts even without hooks; with hooks installed you still get exactly one receipt. app details, proxy details and accessory details are read locally and only allowlisted facts (versions, status, images) are sent. Raw output, argument values and env are never sent. UPSTATE_KAMAL_FACTS=off turns facts off.
  • upstate watch streams deploys and alerts across your account (--json, --notify for desktop notifications).
  • upstate run <suggestion> runs a receipt's suggested next step after you confirm. upstate logs shows logs for a receipt's containers.
  • upstate connect groups every config/deploy*.yml in a repository into one project, with --project, --config and --destination for scripts and agents.
  • MCP: wait_for_deployment_receipt lets agents wait for their deploy's outcome.
