Valaris 1.6.0 for Windows

New

  • Add to an answer while it is being written. Type while the model is answering and press Enter (or the “Add” button): the note goes into the running answer at its next step, or is sent right after it. Notes can be removed with ✕ before they are used.
  • Hide to the tray. The window's ✕ can hide Valaris next to the clock instead of closing it: answers keep coming, the icon opens the window, its menu has “New chat” and “Exit”. Valaris asks once; the choice can be changed in Settings → Window.

Improved

  • The app identifies itself to OpenRouter with the current header, so Valaris is shown correctly in your OpenRouter activity.
  • The installer is checked file by file during the build, so nothing needed can go missing.

Website

  • New page: Security and privacy — what the app does and does not do, which addresses it contacts, and how updates are checked.

Checks before release

  • 512 automated tests passed.
  • Licences: every third-party component is open source and allows commercial use (MIT, BSD, Apache and similar).
  • Leak check: the program contains no databases, logs, keys, licence codes, passwords or personal e-mail.
  • Required files: everything the program needs is in the installer (Python, secure connection, chat database, encryption, window, interface).
  • Self-test: the built program starts and shows its version and all 9 languages.

Download

Check the file in PowerShell: Get-FileHash .\ValarisAPP-Setup-1.6.0.exe — the hash must match the one above. Already installed? Valaris updates itself.

Why an antivirus may warn

Valaris is not yet signed with a paid code-signing certificate, and some antiviruses use machine learning that is suspicious of new programs (for example Microsoft “Wacatac.B!ml” — “!ml” is a guess of the model, not a known virus). Download only from valaris.app or this page and compare the SHA-256. More: valaris.app/security.html
