What's changed
Second pre-release, mostly for what an AI agent draws through the MCP server and for the Mermaid import. The known limitations of 0.2.0-beta.1 still apply (see the changelog).
- Mermaid import: class and entity-relationship diagrams; subgraphs laid out as blocks (frames no longer overlap,
directionhonoured); links to a subgraph and;inside quoted labels fixed; links routed around the nodes they do not link. - Automatic layout: large and cyclic graphs are drawn much more compactly (on a random 40-module graph with cycles: about half as high, about half the edge length).
- Arrowheads: UML diamonds and hollow triangle, entity-relationship crow's foot family, in the style panel, the MCP tools, SVG / PNG / PDF, draw.io and Excalidraw. Older versions still open boards that use them and draw the closest original head.
- MCP server:
exportcreates folders and takes a PNGwidthorscale; pages can be given as text;batchaccepts theinkboard_prefix;head_start/head_end; a Dockerfile for file mode.

About this pre-release
0.2.0-beta.1 is a pre-release. Its headline feature, live sharing, is new: click Share to get a link, and people who open it (from the app, or from a web page with nothing to install: https://victorletirand.github.io/inkboard/) edit the same board with you in real time, end-to-end encrypted. It is covered by automated tests (including simulated crowds and hostile inputs) and has been tried by hand on a few devices and networks, but not widely.
Known limitations
- Company networks: the public relay is blocked behind some TLS-inspecting gateways. The application then explains it and offers Copy the diagnostic; this was tested in simulation but not confirmed behind a real gateway.
- Safari and iOS are not tested. The web page can join a session but cannot host one.
- The Windows installer is not code-signed and does not register
inkboard://links (paste them into File → Join a session…, or use the web link). Linux and macOS packages register them. - Linux and macOS builds pass CI but have not been used by hand yet.
Full list and details: CHANGELOG.md. Please report problems.

What's changed
Agents (MCP): 16 → 27 tools
add_icon,search_icons,list_icon_groups: the 28,800 icons of the library (AWS, Azure, Cisco, brands…).render: the board as an image, with optional object ids drawn on it, so an agent can check and fix its own work.batch: up to 200 operations in one call, with references between them, all-or-nothing, one undo step.- Styles and fonts readable (
describe_boardwithdetail: "full"),find_objects, and tools to move, align, group, reorder, duplicate objects and manage pages. - Bold, color and highlight in text (
markdownparameter,format_text). - How to connect Claude Code, GitHub Copilot (VS Code) and other clients: see
docs/MCP.md.
Text editing: the text stays exactly where it will be displayed while you type (no more offset in the frame, caret in the right place), for every shape and alignment.
Known limits of this release candidate: installers are not code-signed (SmartScreen warning); GitHub Copilot and Claude Desktop setups are documented but not tested yet; the winget package is not published.
