Consider integrating support for native OS hypervisors (e.g. KVM on Linux)

It would be great if VirtualBox could leverage the native hypervisors of OS platforms to make it more useful on multiple architectures and improve the reliability of VirtualBox as a virtualization solution.

For example, I saw some time ago that there's a port of VirtualBox to KVM that would be interesting to integrate so that VirtualBox would work on both x86 and ARM (and not require custom kernel modules too!).

I didn't realize this was a thing yet. I didn't see any documentation or examples of how to get this working. Do you have some pointers?

Hmm, reading the details... Perhaps it is not what I expected and you were referring...

Yeah, that's just how VirtualBox presents itself to guest machines. I'm referring to using KVM as the actual hypervisor for VirtualBox.

For those interested, you can build VirtualBox on linux.arm64 and have some basic support (among other things saved states are not working) for running ARM VMs there, this one uses the KVM interface. However it is not far enough yet to be officially supported, so YMMV.
