Better Nexus 1.20.0-beta.1 test.9095 - UI refresh and recovery updates

EXPERIMENTAL PUBLIC TEST / PRERELEASE

Project Ebonhold | World of Warcraft 3.3.5a

This update brings a major UI refresh: Vista and Slate styles, six accent palettes, themed Welcome and Display Settings, clearer Help and Logs, expanded Nexus Progress details, and refreshed Orb controls/history with a compact mini-panel route.

Changes

  • Appearance and navigation: selected styles/palettes carry across the refreshed views; setup dialogs fit and can repaint while open.
  • Progress and Orbs: clearer assigned-Wishlist detail, safe explanations/tooltips, combined Orb controls/history, and a compact route to the controls.
  • Less repeated background work: coalesced catalog/status/hash reads and reuse of prepared data when relevant inputs have not changed.
  • Cautious recovery: an own reroll that crosses a loading screen can resume once fresh same-run evidence confirms the expected outcome. No blind action retry is added. Unknown Take results retain their hold with clearer pause messages.
  • Narrow correctness and diagnostics: exact offline-peer Sync cancellation, verified native-realm DPS lookup fallback, and locked-state diagnostics that distinguish records from copies and report unavailable evidence honestly.

Validation and limits

The prepared source passed the retained complete local LuaJIT suite: 429 passed, 0 failed, 0 not run. Actual package content, 95-entry source equivalence, two same-environment reproducible builds, and release identity/checksum checks passed. All 87 runtime-directory and 95 package-source blobs match the reviewed baseline. Hosted PR #118 validation passed: literal-head and merge offline suites each ran all 429 tests with zero failures or skipped tests; package-content checks also passed. Literal-head CI verified the exact source commit and tree listed below.

Earlier private e7 checks passed Welcome/Display Settings fit, compact X close/reopen, and reversible palette repaint. The UI images below are labeled historical illustrations. They do not establish current-candidate native recovery or a performance gain.

Known issues: a Take can still remain pending after a loading screen. A player reported that Auto OFF -> ON resumed a similar pause, but the follow-up build/state was not verified and it is not a guaranteed cure. Cross-client LK leaderboard reception remains under investigation. No matched FPS/CPU gain or Nexus-caused stutter is claimed. The separate new diagnostic tracer is not included in this build.

Public test.9094 — needs testing

This update focuses on automatic Echo picks that keep waiting after a delayed response.

  • Automatic pick recovery: Nexus keeps track of an unresolved pick and makes bounded read-only rechecks while Auto is on and no other pause blocks it. It can resume once that pick's exact Echo grant is proven, without resending the pick.
  • Loading screens: Unresolved picks retain their tracking across travel.
  • Final-roll status: A proven final pick at level 80 clears stale waiting guidance before the idle or save view.
  • Clearer status and reports: Show whether Auto is selected, waiting, rechecking, or paused; retain useful recovery explanations in /nexus report.

Validation and limits

The exact source passed 390/390 offline suites and 36/36 focused suites, with fresh Opus 5.5 MAX review. Two local package builds produced identical bytes. Native client/server behavior and UI fit remain unverified; this prerelease needs in-game testing. The separate Orb server-data readiness wait is not claimed fixed.

Recovery is not guaranteed: a missing grant or ambiguous selection can leave automation waiting. Reloading does not prove or cancel the server result. The nine documented minor findings remain unchanged; no broader cleanup is included.

Update and report

Close WoW, back up the addon folders and WTF, then replace Nexus and NexusSupport from the same ZIP. Preserve saved data; no wipe is required. Review your Wishlist assignment before enabling Automation.

Better Nexus 1.20 — Public test.9093

EXPERIMENTAL PUBLIC TEST / PRERELEASE

This update brings the reviewed repair candidate into the public beta. Compared with public test.9092:

  • Wishlists and progress: Refresh progress after loadout swaps; preserve explicit selected design identity; keep authored descriptions and links through title-only edits and reimports; guard Copy and Save before accepting an over-limit locked-target design.
  • Locked Echoes: Distinguish permanent records from the copies held in their stacks throughout display, trust and export. Use observed native capacity conservatively, preserve locked-only Saved Build mirrors, and keep malformed or unknown evidence explicit.
  • Orbs and diagnostics: Show the actual readiness refusal stage and better assigned-Wishlist guidance; distinguish client-observed spending from server confirmation; connect bounded native-error feedback without duplicate recovery actions. A positive balance alone does not establish readiness.
  • DPS and sharing: Restore supported historical DPS into the authority payload that is actually served; preserve owner-authored mirror text; improve class capture and import. Same-realm and evidence-admission guards remain.
  • UI and client integration: Fix leaderboard selection, rank/tooltips and class-menu states; preserve link drafts and log paging; close Wishlist menus with the editor; correct the Nexus name/guild marker; improve Saved Build labels; restore only Nexus-owned HUD hides; use validated client Intensity constants and Journal fallback; display low integer DPS and validate declared slot ranges without inventing a server ceiling.

Testing and limits

The final hosted PR merge and literal-head suites each passed 379/379, with zero FAIL, NOT RUN or missing results; all three PR jobs passed. Final hosted CI tested integration head 2bef675ae0e588f54a67961279b2ad1dbd900149, tree 75eae843c75dc23a1e4d9d5df78017db24fa0a82. Relative to reviewed package source adc75a6, the integration preserves the current README presentation and artwork, adds the manual release checklist, and adds two fake-server mode lines to make an existing Orb UI fixture deterministic; runtime and packaging source are byte-identical.

An earlier literal-head attempt reported a traffic-test timeout and an Orb UI intermediate-state assertion failure (377 pass / 2 fail); both its results and the unchanged-head successful rerun are retained. A bounded canonical Opus5.5 MAX diagnosis and a root-executed healthy phase probe reproduced the UI fixture race. The correction holds synthetic replies during the unchanged intermediate-state assertion and releases them afterward; all four phase controls and the affected test passed. No gameplay change, weakened assertion or timeout increase was made. The traffic test passed at 116.708 and 117.258 seconds in the earlier successful hosted observations against its unchanged 120-second limit; that narrow runner margin remains a test-reliability limitation, and no production defect was demonstrated.

The retained local full suite passed 379/379, with zero FAIL or NOT RUN, on 58c6de239fc854b989bcdcddc430094fc4bba498; verified subsequent commits only changed explanatory text before the reviewed adc75a6 candidate. Independent canonical Opus 5.5 MAX Standards and Spec reviews reported zero blockers on that candidate.

These are offline tests with simulated services. The reported live Orb server-data wait is not proven resolved. Actual client/server capacity, action legality, resource spending, peer/error delivery and native UI timing still require native validation. Capacity observations do not prove server enforcement. Removal-marker policy (N01) is unchanged, and personal historical Lich King recovery is excluded. Preserve your saved data; this release does not require a wipe.

Better Nexus 1.20 — Public test.9092 is available!

I’ve been working on Nexus for four months now, and the 1.20 beta has grown into one of our biggest updates yet.

If you’re coming from the original addon or an earlier beta, there’s a lot here that won’t be obvious from a version number. Alongside new features, a considerable amount of work has gone into rebuilding existing systems, fixing older problems, protecting saved data, and making the addon easier to understand when something goes wrong.

I wanted to put the latest highlights and the broader development history in one place, because a single set of patch notes doesn’t show everything that has gone into getting here.

Changes since public test.9087

  • Wishlist footer (9088): Reserved footer space and two lines of counts, with 17 selected rows remaining scrollable above Save.
  • Native DPS Sync (9089): Same-realm owner authority with compatibility for the observed Ebonhold realm APIs; conflicting-owner and chunk-consistency guards remain.
  • Request full build and Open Build (9089): Deliberate completion requests for unknown current locked roles, truthful pending/refused/offline/timeout states, and independent catalog cursors so browsing and hash preparation do not restart each other.
  • UI and identity (9089): Character-only leaderboard headings with realm/verification tooltips; improved long-text visibility, scrolling, bounds and spacing; non-overlapping Wishlist rows; startup banner identifies the loaded build.
  • Refused Freeze (9092): A refused action no longer stalls the board; the existing loop breaker remains.
  • DPS-to-build linking (9092): Uses a bounded exact-fingerprint index instead of a whole-catalog copy walk. An incomplete or refused query stays explicit rather than becoming a false “no match”; incomplete library reads also show an honest unavailable state.
  • Removal-marker readers (9092): Separate readers avoid interfering with one another; refused Sync scans restart within a bound instead of reporting completion. Reloaded exact markers preserve their unknown-evidence classification.
  • Clearer capture status (9092): Read-only saved profiles explicitly identify session-only DPS captures.
  • Less repeated work (9092): Removes unused board support scans, repeated deep copies during retention counts and no-op state reads, duplicate helpers and dead paths. Auto-lock setters now return success consistently.

The reviewed 9092 fixes passed offline validation. Synthetic measurements showed less work in the exercised paths; no live frame experiment establishes that gameplay hitching is fixed. Removal-marker expiry/readmission policy (N01) is unchanged. Other deferred hypotheses and native-only checks remain open. Personal historical Lich King recovery is excluded from this public source and package.

Hosted exact-head and PR-merge suites each passed 307/307, with zero failed, NOT RUN or missing results; all three jobs passed. CI run. What’s changed since public test.9050

Highlights through public test.9089

  • Sync fix: Fixed the reported same-realm “owner-change” error that blocked build updates. Sharing remains same-realm only.
  • Updated rolling: The experimental adaptive strategy is now the default, prioritizing missing Wishlist copies, handling two useful offers, and improving Banish-before-Reroll decisions. The previous strategy is still selectable.
  • Less background processing: Reduced unnecessary HUD, Wishlist, build-library, and Orb checks, along with repeated startup work.
  • Safer Wishlist saving: Better protection against saving to the wrong build. Refused saves keep your draft, older-data recovery preserves your current setup, and locked targets now appear in the overlay. Build-slot messages and tooltips are clearer.
  • Wishlist editor footer: Reserved space for two lines of counts above Save, with the selected Echo list remaining scrollable.
  • Manual Orb Continue: Added recovery checks and confirmation for eligible interrupted sessions, keeping the original spending history and unresolved results. Does not repeat actions, refund Orbs, or automatically start another run.
  • Leaderboard cleanup: Improved score checks to keep invalid entries and scores below 1 off the relevant boards.
  • Better troubleshooting: Reports now include rolling history, clearer Orb recovery details, and stutter diagnostics to help identify problems.

Four months of work — from the original Nexus 1.19.3

The original Nexus 1.19.3 already provided the foundation for automation, Wishlists, Community Builds, and DPS tracking. Better Nexus builds on that work.

The highlights above cover 9050 → 9089. The history below covers the wider four-month beta development, including work already present before public test.9050.

Core addon, startup, and compatibility

  • Reworked major parts of the addon’s core systems, startup process, build catalogs, and saved-data handling.
  • Added batched startup with visible loading progress, allowing local Wishlist and rolling tools to become available while shared builds continue loading.
  • Fixed startup problems caused by older Community records and lock-attempt data saved by previous versions.
  • Added compatibility handling for older beta and Good Enough Nexus saves, improved realm-aware character-data recovery, and added protection for unsupported or read-only data.
  • Improved handling of oversized Community libraries without simply deleting them. Added Echo-catalog refresh checks that preserve the last usable information when a refresh fails.

Wishlists, imports, assignments, and the editor

  • Reworked Wishlist creation, first-run setup, importing, assignment, saving, and reopening. Fixed truncated import/export codes, including coverage for supported plans containing 79 rolled and 6 locked copies.
  • Improved exact-quality and copy-count tracking, kept rolled and locked targets separate, and added locked targets to the Wishlist overlay.
  • Added paging, local Wishlist management, confirmation, and recoverable removal/Unassign. Improved selection between plans with identical names or similar contents.
  • Made Saved Build selection follow the slots available from the server. Added checks for outdated assignments, changed server Wishlist contents, and empty or incorrect save destinations.
  • Fixed older assignment upgrades not staying saved, preserved locked designs, and improved first-time setup. Refused saves now preserve the draft and explain the problem, while recovery keeps older data separate from your current setup.

Rolling decisions and automation

  • Reworked Take, Freeze, Banish, and Reroll decisions around remaining Wishlist needs. Removed the assumption that selecting a Saved Build guarantees particular future offers, and separated rolled progress from locked-target requirements.
  • Added the experimental adaptive strategy, including larger-deficit prioritization, handling for two useful offer...

Better Nexus 1.20 — Public test.9089 is available!

I’ve been working on Nexus for four months now, and the 1.20 beta has grown into one of our biggest updates yet.

I wanted to put the latest highlights and the broader development history in one place, because a single set of patch notes doesn’t show everything that has gone into getting here.

What’s new in public test.9089

  • Native DPS Sync: Preserves owner authority through native same-realm DPS transfers, including the observed Ebonhold normalized-realm API differences. Chunk consistency and conflicting-owner guards remain in place; sharing is still same-realm only.
  • Request full build: Leaderboard details can deliberately request a full build when current locked roles are unknown. The request states its capability every time; only the owner’s matching same-revision answer completes the record. Pending, refused, offline and timeout states are shown. Reading the view does not send or retry.
  • Open Build: Community browsing and hash preparation now use separate catalog cursors, avoiding the shared-cursor restart that left details blank. Loading, unavailable and incomplete states are stated explicitly.
  • Cleaner names: Leaderboard rows and detail headings show character names, with realm and owner verification retained in the tooltip. Identity matching, pairing and scores are unchanged.
  • UI text and layout: Improved long-name and refusal visibility, scrollable detail content, full-text hover, menu bounds and spacing across Community, Leaderboard, Wishlist and support views. The on-screen Wishlist’s row boxes and pitch now match so rows do not overlap.
  • Loaded build identity: The startup banner states the actual installed build label, making public and diagnostic copies easier to identify.

The owner accepted the installed layout fixes. This release excludes the separate historical Lich King recovery candidate. The broader addon review is still pending, and these changes do not establish that gameplay hitching is fixed. Larger fonts, screen edges and every possible native interaction have not all been validated; the taller on-screen Wishlist may need a lower existing scale setting on smaller screens.

Validation: hosted exact-head and PR-merge suites each passed 299/299, with no failed, skipped or missing results; package checks passed. CI run. • Fixed stale DPS calculations and displays, corrected captures that mixed ordinary and locked Echoes, and improved handling of characters with no locked Echoes.
  • Improved Dummy/Lich King pairing so combined entries use matching records from the same character. Clarified the “Require both DPS records” filter, ownership labels, and combined rankings.
  • Improved record retention and cleanup so older data does not replace accepted newer records. Reviewed ranking calculations and tightened checks against invalid scores.

Sharing and Sync

  • Added preservation of locked targets when sharing with compatible players, with clearer information about what older addon versions can receive.
  • Added persistent preparing, queued, sent, and refused Share status, and fixed oversized requests that were rejected before they could be sent.
  • Spread incoming build updates and DPS preparation across smaller batches instead of doing all the work at once.
  • Improved checks on incoming messages, sender identity, and build ownership, along with clearer explanations for accepted, delayed, or refused records.
  • Added the same-realm owner-change fix included in test.9088, while keeping protections against conflicting ownership claims. Older records without ownership information remain blocked rather than having Nexus guess who owns them.

Interface, Help, and everyday usability

  • Added a persistent seven-page in-game Help guide, covering setup, rolling, Orbs, and reporting.
  • Fixed HUD visibility problems, corrected replacement of the stock Difficulty/Soul Ash display, and addressed incomplete level-80 displays.
  • Improved Hardcore menu handling, panel stability, quality labels, and tooltips.
  • Added clearer explanations for paused automation and refused actions, including situations where “Auto ON” does not mean Nexus can currently proceed.

Orbs and Lost Memories

  • Added refinement toward the assigned Wishlist, explicit maximum spending bu...

Download and install

Download Nexus test.9050-8f03ade

Already installed test.9050? Download it again. The release was updated on September 28 to fix the Hardcore menu. Nexus will not show an update notice because the version number is the same. Check for test.9050-8f03ade in the game's addon list.

This is an experimental release for manual installation. The updated package has passed offline tests. It has not been tested in game.

Keep Auto OFF on any Saved Build you want to keep.

With Auto ON, Nexus can replace your active Saved Build after a qualifying finished run. This can also happen after you enable Auto or change its Wishlist assignment. There is no confirmation popup or guaranteed undo. A local backup cannot reverse a completed server save.

  1. Close the game completely. Back up your addon folders and local SavedVariables.
  2. Download Better-Nexus-test.9050-8f03ade.zip from the link above. Do not download GitHub's Source code files.
  3. Replace both folders from the ZIP: Interface/AddOns/Nexus and Interface/AddOns/NexusSupport. Do not put them inside an extra folder. NexusSupport stores support reports.
  4. Start the game. Check that the addon list shows 1.20.0-beta.1 test.9050-8f03ade.

What changed

Fix added to this replacement

The Nexus Hardcore control can now create and refresh the server's Hardcore menu. The first test.9050 build could fail to open it, or show an old difficulty after it had been opened from the server HUD.

Nexus now uses the server's identified Hardcore button to request your current difficulty and rebuild the menu. It does not try other HUD buttons. The same control closes the menu. If the button is unavailable, Nexus gives one message and does not open an outdated panel. This fix passed offline tests; in-game behavior still needs confirmation.

This replacement adds only that fix and its tests. The other changes below were already in test.9050.

Other changes since test.9049

  • Wishlist saving and automation: Saving no longer lets locked Echoes count toward ordinary targets. This prevents a later save from removing required rows. Automation also counts ordinary and locked targets separately. A card with the wrong quality now says “Different quality from target.”
  • Wishlist editor: Lists stop at their last full page. The Journal selector warning appears beside the open picker.
  • Orb recovery: After login or reload, Nexus waits for missing build-slot information instead of marking an unresolved action “loadout changed.” Status messages explain what is still waiting for confirmation.
  • Orb maximum: With no saved maximum, the amount follows your confirmed balance, up to 1,000. Max returns to that balance. Typing an amount keeps your choice. Start approves the displayed amount. An older saved maximum, including 10, is kept until you change it.
  • Auto status: The HUD says “Auto ON — paused” when Auto is enabled but cannot act. This does not turn Auto off.
  • After normal rolls: When the game confirms rolls are finished and Wishlist targets remain, the HUD offers “Open Orbs...”. This button only opens the window. It does not start a run or spend Orbs.
  • HUD layout: The panel keeps its size between Echo choices. Orb guidance has more room, and quality 4 is named “Legendary.”
  • Build sharing: Locked targets reach compatible clients. Update from Wishlist keeps locked targets locked. Older clients receive ordinary targets only.
  • Community and Build Library: A card uses one character's Dummy/Lich King pair. Require both DPS records filters for records your client has. Unestablished owners have shorter labels; the detail view still states that their identity is not established.
  • Sync and repair: DPS sync preparation is split across updates. Legacy repairs can finish during steady DPS traffic, and Community/Leaderboard views keep refreshing during long Syncs. Older DPS records keep their original locked Echoes.
  • Reports and help: Lua errors are readable in support reports. Repeated repair refusals no longer fill the report. Long diagnostic text preserves non-English characters. Help has shorter steps and problem-report instructions.

Known problems and limits

  • Auto can act after a missing server reply. If an automatic action gets no reply and no loading screen, a 10-second watchdog can release it. Nexus may then send another automatic action on an unconfirmed board. This behavior is unchanged. Keep Auto OFF if you need to avoid this risk.
  • Some old Orb receipts remain paused. A receipt already marked “loadout changed” can block new Orb runs, ordinary rolling and build-slot changes. This release cannot close it. It does not retry, reset or count the action for you.
  • Rolling waits for confirmed Orb state. If your client never confirms that state, rolling stays paused for the session.
  • Wishlist scrolling stutter is not addressed by this update. The scrolling report is deferred pending more user reports. Offline performance results do not prove smoother gameplay.
  • Some saves are refused for protection. If Nexus cannot identify the server Wishlist—for example, duplicate names and contents—it keeps your plan and refuses the save.
  • In-game checks remain incomplete. The updated package, Hardcore opening/refresh/closing, sharing between game clients, tooltip placement, and HUD text/layout at different scales still need in-game confirmation.

Report a problem

  1. When the problem happens, type /nexus report before you reload.
  2. Use Copy summary. Include your current and previous build, what you were doing, and whether Auto was ON or OFF. For stutter, say whether it is better, unchanged or worse.
  3. Remove private account and character information before posting. If reporting fails, say so.

If requested, send WTF/Account/<ACCOUNT>/SavedVariables/NexusSupport.lua privately, never in a public post.

You do not need to spend Orbs, overwrite a valued build, or edit SavedVariables to give feedback. Auto testing is optional and only for players with a verified disposable active Saved Build.

Compatibility and behavior details
  • Wishlist roles: A saved plan without roles becomes an ordinary-target plan after its next save. An Echo locked later does not count toward those ordinary rows. Wishlists without roles keep their previous automation behavior until converted. Nexus does not substitute a different quality for a requested quality.
  • Sharing with older versions: A client that does not advertise locked-target support receives ordinary targets only. Share status counts these responses. Locked targets received from an older version are treated as unknown, not as none. A build already held at the same revision does not fetch them again; the owner must share a new revision or answer with them.
  • DPS records: Received records over 79 ordinary, 6 locked, or 85 total Echo copies are refused. Older records that put locked Echoes in the ordinary list can exceed this limit, including your own records received by another client. Existing stored records are not deleted. Differing copies can cause ...

Experimental public prerelease. Opt in and install manually. This is not a stable release.

Keep Auto OFF on a Saved Build you need to preserve. With Auto ON, Nexus may replace the active Saved Build after a qualifying finished run, including after you enable Auto or change its Wishlist assignment. There is no confirmation popup or guaranteed undo. Local backups cannot undo a completed server save.

Changes since public test.9045

  • HUD/DPS preparation reuses a shared projection and reduces repeated model copying. This targets preparation cost; representative real-world performance improvement is not yet confirmed.
  • Quick Start has room for its body and hint with a larger replacement font. The Wishlist picker marks the resolved assignment with a single [Selected] marker, including legacy associations.
  • Wishlist selection preserves the clicked slot when multiple Wishlists share rolled contents. It refuses a changed clicked slot or an ambiguous moved identity.
  • Echo selection remains pending intent until the server grant is observed. Echo locks wait for pending selections and are checked again after the action settles. Loading-screen transitions retain unresolved actions and keep the Auto selection visible during a hold.
  • Catalog maintenance, compaction and retention avoid publishing older DPS data over accepted writes. Evidence handling avoids altering another transaction's candidate. Catalog rebind handling addresses the previously intermittent admission stall.
  • Leaderboard capacity recovery uses separate budgets and expiry for retention markers. Capacity refusal messages identify the counters that were actually read.
  • Read-only saved formats preserve saved choices and avoid writes to the saved root. Admitted saved DPS records and error history remain readable.
  • Auto labels are clearer. Help and UI text disclose when enabling Auto, changing an assignment or editing its saved contents can lead to replacement of the active Saved Build. The addon list identifies the installed build.
  • Internal engine naming and related notices now use EchoWeaver.

Validation and remaining limits

Automated CI run 36241371313 passed 202/202 on the exact source head and 202/202 on the matching merge-result tree. Focused independent review accepted the combined source. Package/TOC checks, release identity self-tests and two byte-identical public builds passed.

Native UI checks were partly completed on the earlier internal-channel archive from this source. The newly public-stamped archive has not been tested in game. Quick Start and selection checks passed at the three tested UI scales. A stale selection is refused, but the open picker can partly obscure the selector warning tooltip. Numeric HUD DPS values have not yet been demonstrated natively against a matching record.

The earlier performance run is inconclusive. A representative Auto OFF/ON comparison remains incomplete. Automatic-save timing and other native checks remain incomplete. Publication does not establish full native acceptance or a stable release.

Installation

  1. Close the game completely. Back up the current addon folders and local SavedVariables before replacement. Local backups cannot reverse a completed server save.
  2. Download Better-Nexus-test.9049-27aaeec.zip from this release's assets. Do not use GitHub's automatic Source code ZIP or tarball.
  3. Replace both addon folders from the archive: Interface/AddOns/Nexus and Interface/AddOns/NexusSupport. Do not nest them inside another folder. NexusSupport stores support reports.
  4. Start the game and check that the installed build is test.9049-27aaeec. Keep Auto OFF on any active Saved Build you need to preserve.

Normal-play feedback

Please report the exact build and previous build, your activity, Auto ON/OFF, and whether stuttering is better, unchanged or worse. Report incorrect HUD values, selection problems and Lua errors. Include relevant /nexus status, screenshots, /nexus perf, or StutterAlert output. Remove private account and character information before sharing reports.

Auto testing is optional and only for users who already have a verified disposable active Saved Build. No Orb spending, intentional overwrite of a valued build, or SavedVariables-format editing is requested.

EXPERIMENTAL public test build. Not a stable release, not merged into main, not installed or native-tested by the maintainer. Installation is manual.

A level-80 run that has not finished could not open its HUD

A report on test.9043: left-clicking the minimap never shows the main HUD, right-click opens the Wishlist editor, and start-up is ready. The panel's own counters read renders 0, commits 0, failures 0, hidden 16 — the panel was wanted sixteen times, with no menu in the way, and nothing had ever been rendered to show.

A left-click asks the panel for a first display. Until something has rendered, that request can only ask the runtime to recompute and keep the panel hidden; the HUD appears when the next runtime step renders. Every outcome of that step renders something, except two. At level 80, when the run has fewer than 79 rolled Echoes or its ownership has not synchronized yet, and there is no board, the step set a status line and stopped — "finishing run" when nothing was pending, "finishing final Echo selections" when a selection was. A status line can only relabel a HUD that already exists. With none, no click could ever show it, and each one added to the hidden count.

Both waits now render the idle HUD, the same way every other state already does. Rendering it takes no Echo, and freezes, banishes, rerolls, saves, locks and spends nothing.

Whether this was the reporter's cause is not established. It reproduces their counters exactly, through the real minimap button, but their level is not in any evidence used here, and other failures before the render counter moves would read the same.

A count that is not known is not shown as one

The unsynchronized wait now says the Echo count is not known yet, instead of showing 0/79. That wording was always wrong and had never been seen, because the state it belonged to never rendered.

What did not change

The stock Difficulty / Soul Ash widget still steps aside only for a Nexus HUD that can display (test.9044). The Wishlist editor still opens from right-click, including for a Saved Build that has no Wishlist, and the HUD still steps aside while it is open. Hiding the HUD yourself still sticks. Nothing forces the panel open, and nothing marks an incomplete HUD as ready.

Getting the original box back on purpose

Unchanged: the Nexus panel's More (...) menu → Use Server Difficulty / Soul Ash HUD, or /run Nexus.ServerStatus.SetMode("server") if the panel is not reachable. No reset, no reinstall.

Verification, and what it is not

A new test drives the reported state through the real minimap button and fails on the published test.9044 code at renders=0. It also covers a completed run, ownership that has never been answered, a selection still pending, a level-60 control, a deliberate hide that later runtime steps must not undo, the Wishlist editor as a menu, the order seen in the reporter's video with the stock widget present and the loading view left open, and a first render that fails before it is counted and then recovers without a reload. The independent review reproduced the defect itself and accepted the correction; it also found three places where that test proved less than it said, which were fixed before release.

Offline results are not native results. Whether your HUD now appears is for you to test, voluntarily. Known and not fixed here: an automatic-lock error that recurs on every step would still block the first HUD, and would show in the support report's recorded Lua errors; and the runtime has no branch for a player level outside 1-80, where a brief level 0 recovers on its own within a few seconds.

Replaced by test.9045. This build stays published and its assets are unchanged. test.9045 lets a level-80 run that has not finished open its main HUD, which in this build a left-click could not do.

EXPERIMENTAL public test build. Not a stable release, not merged into main, not installed or native-tested by the maintainer. Installation is manual.

Source 82252c5. Replaces test.9043, which stays published and unchanged.

The Difficulty / Soul Ash box disappearing

Nexus has two modes for the Project Ebonhold difficulty / Soul Ash HUD. In the default mode it hides the stock widget and mirrors its values on the Nexus panel; in the other it leaves the stock widget alone. That much is by design and unchanged.

What was wrong is that the hiding decided everything from the saved mode alone. It never asked whether the Nexus panel was actually able to show those values — and the panel, independently, refuses to display until a render has committed, counting each time it declines. So a panel that had not rendered yet, had failed to render, or was not loaded at all left the player with no HUD whatsoever: the stock box hidden, and nothing in its place.

The two owners now exchange one fact. The stock widget stands aside only while the Nexus HUD can actually display. While it cannot, the widget is left exactly as it is — not hidden, and equally not forced open every second, because the game and the player own it. If the Nexus HUD commits a render and later stops being able to display, the widget this addon took away is given back, once.

Deliberate states stay deliberate. Hiding the Nexus panel yourself, and opening a Nexus dialog that suppresses it, both keep the stock widget replaced: the panel can still display, and you asked for the Nexus HUD.

Getting the original box back on purpose

Unchanged and still the supported route: the Nexus panel's More (...) menu → Use Server Difficulty / Soul Ash HUD. The same entry switches back. If the panel is not reachable, /run Nexus.ServerStatus.SetMode("server") does the same thing. No reset, no reinstall, no new character: the preference is one stored word.

The support report can now say which HUD you have

A report from a session where a HUD is missing used to say nothing about it, because hiding a frame on purpose is not an error and leaves no incident. The prepared report now carries one short section: which HUD you prefer, whether each frame exists and is on screen, whether the Nexus panel's render has committed, and that owner's own counters. When neither HUD is on screen, it says so in those words rather than leaving it to be inferred.

It is this session only. Nothing is stored, no frame tree is walked, and no character or realm appears in it.

What this build does not do

No UI scale is changed, no other addon is touched or disabled, no stock button or unrelated frame is altered, and nothing scans the interface. Reading any of the state above writes nothing to your saved variables — including the display preference, which describing no longer creates.

Verification, and what it is not

The reporter's own probe, re-run unchanged against these bytes under the client's Lua version, now fails at its own assertion that the stock widget is hidden with no replacement. That is the defect demonstrated gone by the tool that demonstrated it.

The focused test drives both real modules through a real session: a widget that appears before the panel has rendered, an uncommitted render then a committed one, a render that fails after working, explicit hide and show, one dialog then two then none, mode changes both ways, and a zone change. Every one of its guards was separately shown to be load-bearing.

Offline results are not native results. Five independent reviews were taken on this work; three of them rejected it, twice for defects that a correction of mine had introduced. Each was reproduced before being fixed, and the last one found none. Whether the HUD behaves this way on your client is for you to test, voluntarily.

Known and not fixed here: in server mode the stock widget is re-shown on each scan, so closing it yourself does not stick; after some zone changes the hide hook can be installed more than once, which is bounded and harmless; and a widget that was already hidden before Nexus first ran is never forced open.
