Chio 0.2.2

Choose a tag to compare

@echoz echoz released this 23 Oct 14:29
4ded80f

Chio 0.2.2 improves focus, keyboard input and terminal cleanup. It includes the merged SwiftTUI corrections qualified through Chio's release and terminal checks.

Changes

  • Keep the active command visible in short palettes. Recover previously visible focused controls after layout changes while preserving intentional scrolling.
  • Correct retained focus reads and stacked observation callbacks used by forms, lists and diff navigation.
  • Skip disabled checklist rows during native keyboard navigation. Keep search editable when no enabled result can receive focus.
  • Use native two-axis Home/End behavior in the viewport example.
  • Serve waiting startup input after the initial appearance and focus updates.
  • Preserve inherited Darwin output policy and bound writes to full sockets, including diagnostics and exit cleanup.
  • Fix external SearchableList release linking with Apple SwiftBuild. Add tests for independent editing and focus in simultaneous lists.
  • Adopt EngineeringRules 0.1.10 and release builds for routine verification, retaining the documented scratch-state exception.

Public Chio API names and style configuration are unchanged from 0.2.1. The native behavior changes above are intentional.

Includes #22, #23 and #24. The SwiftTUI pin includes merged #62 and #63.

Install

Requires Swift 6.4+, macOS 15+ or ordinary Linux with the Swift/Foundation runtime. Use the immutable release revision:

.package(
    url: "https://github.com/echoz/Chio.git",
    revision: "4ded80f870fb2c92c92d7d402fd71d42213ecee8"
),

If the application also declares SwiftTUI directly, align its requirement:

.package(
    url: "https://github.com/SwiftTUI/swift-tui.git",
    revision: "3999a9a57dde52fb00aa98952460b0819a0641bf"
),

Resolve the manifest and Package.resolved together. Version requirements such as from: "0.2.2" or exact: "0.2.2" cannot consume the current revision-pinned dependency graph. The release tag identifies the source checkpoint; install it by commit.

Verify disabled-row navigation, empty or disabled-only search, short palettes, dynamic scroll layouts and terminal cleanup in the consuming application. Checked membership and keyboard focus remain distinct. Use release configuration for normal verification.

Verification and limits

The complete macOS and Linux PR gates pass for the same source tree as this release. They cover release tests, standalone products, snapshots, sixteen dashboard terminal workflows, three appearance sessions, four map workflows, HTTP loading, and fresh-process cache and offline-pack checks.

Compiler-backed EngineeringRules, documentation checks and independent review pass. A separate canonical GitHub consumer resolves this exact release commit, builds in release and passes six public API/raster groups. Three application consumers pass refreshed checks of affected macOS paths; their final release adoption remains separate.

Upstream macOS and Linux gates pass for the merged dependency's source tree. The macOS run includes saturated-socket, startup-input, focus and final-callback regressions.

Existing platform-dependent filesystem skips and native collection-realization diagnostics remain documented. These results do not establish universal terminal or SSH behavior, static-musl distribution, live provider availability or debug-specific consumer behavior. No prebuilt binaries are included.

Chio is personal software built with Codex assistance and human curation, under MIT. We cannot vouch for production stability. APIs and behavior may change.

Chio 0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@echoz echoz released this 17 Oct 22:18
3194d11

Chio 0.2.1 is a maintenance release with clearer component documentation and stricter development checks.

Changes

  • Add source-root guides for all sixteen public views, the library, both example applications and the showcase.
  • Give seven public views their own source roots, with their focused tests and supporting types.
  • Adopt EngineeringRules 0.1.7 and schema 2 documentation checks.
  • Remove test-constructor baseline debt while preserving test assertions and fixtures.

The public API, runtime behavior, dependency revisions and rendered showcase remain unchanged from 0.2.0. The source moves preserve file contents.

Includes #20 and #21.

Install

Requires Swift 6.4+, macOS 15+ or Linux. Use these immutable revisions:

.package(url: "https://github.com/echoz/Chio.git", revision: "3194d11fbb73c9cdcd668de64fc1c3edad5f5f4b"),
.package(url: "https://github.com/SwiftTUI/swift-tui.git", revision: "7e62e95c913508f4fef42db36fde6fd60acb541c"),

Version requirements such as from: "0.2.1" or exact: "0.2.1" cannot consume the current revision-pinned dependency graph. Align any direct SwiftTUI requirement and resolve the lockfile together.

The SwiftTUI pin remains the merged collection-focus correction used by 0.2.0. The previously planned SwiftTUI dependency patch moves to a later release.

Verification and limits

The complete hosted macOS and Linux gates pass for the same Git tree as this release. They cover debug and release tests, products, terminal workflows, HTTP loading, and process-level cache and tile-pack checks.

The pinned compiler-backed Swift checks, documentation gate and independent review pass. One documented private map-simplification scratch-state exception remains. The assembled showcase retains all 104 files byte-for-byte.

A separate application resolves, builds and runs against the exact release commit. Its probe checks public imports, inherited styles, list-row spacing, duration display, map values and rendering, and instrumentation construction.

Known native collection-measurement diagnostics remain documented. These checks do not establish universal terminal behavior, live provider availability or downstream application adoption.

Chio is personal software built with Codex assistance and human curation, under MIT. We cannot vouch for production stability. APIs and behavior may change.

No prebuilt binaries or fully static Linux executables are included.

Chio 0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@echoz echoz released this 16 Oct 18:18
69ff447

Chio 0.2.0 brings maps, map services, unified styles and instrumentation to SwiftTUI applications.

  • World and street maps with pan, zoom, annotations, routes and adjustable detail.
  • Explicit online tiles, persistent caching and programmatic read-only tile packs.
  • Forward and reverse place lookup, plus an OSRM routing adapter.
  • ChioStyle with inherited colors, surfaces, spacing and native control styles.
  • Default, light, btop and OpenCode presets, including configurable list-row padding.
  • Measurement gauges, high-contrast target dials, segmented readouts and history charts.

SwiftTUI owns rendering, state, input, focus and scrolling. Applications retain network, timing, storage and workflow policy.

Install

Requires Swift 6.4+, macOS 15+ or Linux. This is a version-tagged source release. The current revision-pinned dependency graph requires immutable revisions:

.package(url: "https://github.com/echoz/Chio.git", revision: "69ff4471d1b238a59074489ab48bf3ffae7edeaa"),
.package(url: "https://github.com/SwiftTUI/swift-tui.git", revision: "7e62e95c913508f4fef42db36fde6fd60acb541c"),

Version requirements such as from: "0.2.0" or exact: "0.2.0" are not supported by this graph. Align any direct SwiftTUI requirement and resolve the lockfile together.

Migration

Replace ChioTheme, .chioTheme(...) and \.chioTheme with ChioStyle, .style(...) and \.chioStyle. The compatibility aliases and legacy style function-reference overloads are removed.

OpenCode adds one cell above and below Chio searchable rows. Set spacing.listRowVerticalInset to choose 0...32 cells per side. Zero preserves compact rows. Native List rows apply the token through ordinary padding.

Verification and limits

The complete local gate passes on macOS: debug and release tests, release products, terminal workflows, and real-process cache and pack checks. EngineeringRules 0.1.5 was merged before this release. Its compiler-backed Swift checks and documentation gate pass, with the existing baseline unchanged. Independent review passes. A fresh external application resolves, builds and runs against the release code. Six refreshed appearance recordings pass terminal restoration and visual checks; the assembled showcase passes browser inspection.

The complete hosted macOS and Linux gates pass for the combined candidate. Each platform passes debug/release tests, products, terminal journeys, HTTP loading and real-process storage checks. Final reconciliation changes documentation only. The earlier Linux attempt hit its overall job limit; the passing run retains all assertions and individual interaction deadlines.

The published annotated tag resolves to 69ff4471d1b238a59074489ab48bf3ffae7edeaa. A separate application resolves, builds and runs against that exact release commit and the matching SwiftTUI revision. The public showcase deployment passes; 19 deployed files match the locally inspected build byte-for-byte. There was no separate interactive browser run after deployment.

The known native collection-measurement diagnostic remains documented. This qualification does not prove large-collection performance, arbitrary terminal behavior or live provider availability.

The release pins merged SwiftTUI #57. A planned 0.2.1 dependency patch will follow a published SwiftTUI release containing that fix, after qualification.

Chio is personal software built with Codex assistance and human curation, under MIT. We cannot vouch for production stability. APIs and behavior may change.

No prebuilt binaries, fully static Linux support, provider archive downloader or live navigation are included. Map adapter checks do not establish provider uptime. Downstream applications must verify their own workflows.

Chio 0.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@echoz echoz released this 06 Oct 15:54

Chio — Beautiful terminal interfaces for Swift.

The first experimental source release of Chio: an opinionated, declarative design and interaction layer over SwiftTUI. Chio means attractive or pretty in Singlish.

Built with Codex assistance and human curation, primarily for personal use. We cannot vouch for production stability. APIs and behavior may change without notice.

This release includes:

  • Default, light and btop themes; coherent styles for native SwiftTUI controls, keyboard hints and status bars.
  • Searchable lists and checklists, form-field validation presentation, file selection, contextual help, pagination and feedback.
  • Markdown with tables, Swift syntax highlighting and opt-in interactive links; passive sparklines with application-supplied samples.
  • Runnable dashboard, metrics and review-inbox compositions, a bounded diff-reader prototype, and focused component examples. The showcase includes recordings and three-theme previews.

Install with SwiftPM

Requires Swift 6.4+, with macOS 15+ or Linux. This release retains commit-pinned upstream dependencies. SwiftPM therefore requires a revision dependency for Chio; from: "0.1.0" and exact: "0.1.0" are not supported for this release.

Add these entries to your package's dependencies:

.package(
    url: "https://github.com/echoz/Chio.git",
    revision: "1bcc08ce23747c8c8b1121e3add3c37951f7b09e" // v0.1.0
),
.package(
    url: "https://github.com/SwiftTUI/swift-tui.git",
    revision: "2d84ac7083993da2ef52e9d3d30255467efb9553"
),

For an application target, add:

.product(name: "Chio", package: "chio"),
.product(name: "SwiftTUI", package: "swift-tui"),

Then use import SwiftTUI and import Chio. See the API guide and example commands.

Verification and limits

The release commit passed macOS and Linux CI, including debug/release tests, snapshot captures and all 15 terminal workflows. The published gallery passed browser playback and mobile-layout checks. A separate macOS consumer also resolved, compiled, linked and ran against this revision.

Linux verification covers ordinary glibc builds. Fully static Linux builds remain blocked by upstream dependencies. Some native focus and table styling limits remain; the diff reader is an example prototype, not a public diff API. See the documented boundaries. No prebuilt binaries are included.
