Hunger is discharged by meals (landing on something while foraging), not by a sleep ratio that the house decides; a hungry fly's meal is a reward the mushroom body learns from. Sleep pressure builds with time awake, so a fly in a busy house still sleeps. The house's looming no longer startles a sleeping fly; swatting it still does. Found by a week of four live flies: hunger pinned at 95-100%, a whole-house fly that never slept, and an awake sensor that flickered 720 times a day. 159 checks.
