Kiki 0.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Oct 07:28

Kiki 0.5.0

This release moves canonical peer-message storage to SQLite and improves long conversation recovery, group chat controls, and the desktop interface.

What changed

  • Mailbox upgrade. Older homes must upgrade their peer-message mailbox before normal sessions open. The startup screen shows progress and recovery actions; kiki storage status, migrate, cancel, rollback, and backup provide the same path in the terminal. The original data and recovery copies are retained. Rollback is available only before SQLite accepts new canonical writes.
  • Conversations and performance. Saved history loads in bounded pages, including long agent timelines. Repeated media results no longer show the same image twice. Markdown editing, model-directory reads, and browser detection avoid blocking unrelated interaction. The profile picker no longer waits for a preview before a new message can be entered.
  • Group chat. Bind a group by sender, topic, or whole chat in Notifications & messages. Choose whether every message wakes the agent, only a supported mention/reply or configured prefix does, or messages are recorded without waking it. Mention/reply needs metadata from that chat service; use a prefix or every-message wake when it lacks that metadata. Broadening an existing binding asks for confirmation. Quiet group messages remain available in history.
  • Agent and tool controls. Nested agents use a compact timeline branch. Session capability switches retain explicit off choices, and ordinary reply threads keep SendMessage off by default unless you enable it for a session or configure a different global default. Windows plugin and MCP commands resolve installed executables through PATH.

Upgrade

Close other Kiki processes using the same home before upgrading. If the upgrade reports a writer is active, finish that work, close the old process, then retry. Keep the original mailbox and its recovery copies until you have verified the upgraded sessions. See kiki storage for status, backup, and rollback.

Download the desktop package for your system: Kiki_0.5.0_x64-setup.exe on Windows (includes the CLI); Kiki_0.5.0_amd64.AppImage or Kiki_0.5.0_amd64.deb on Linux x64; Kiki_0.5.0_aarch64.dmg on Apple Silicon or Kiki_0.5.0_x64.dmg on Intel macOS. Each has an adjacent .sha256 file.

For npm, use Node.js 24.22.1 or later on the 24 line, or 26.12.1 or later; Node.js 25 and earlier 26 releases are not supported:

npm install -g kiki-agent@0.5.0

For CLI/TUI only:

npm install -g kiki-agent-lite@0.5.0

Standalone CLI downloads are kiki-linux-x64, kiki-linux-arm64, kiki-darwin-x64, and kiki-darwin-arm64, each with an adjacent .sha256 file. Windows receives the CLI through its installer or npm.

Windows installers are not Authenticode-signed; SmartScreen may show Unknown publisher. Windows x64 automatic updates use a separate release-key signature. macOS downloads are unsigned and not notarized; follow the first-open and CLI-linking steps. Linux and macOS desktop updates use manual replacement.

Kiki 0.4.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 23 Oct 05:39

Kiki 0.4.2

This release updates conversation recovery, browser and plugin settings, session capabilities, and mobile chat connections.

Highlights

  • Browser sources and Ego Lite. Switch browser sources independently and choose allowed connections within each source. Turning a source off keeps its selections. Ego Lite readiness checks on Windows recognize a prepared installation, and selected connections remain available to later calls, including custom connection ids. Delayed shutdown results no longer clear a newer connection. Install Ego Lite separately from its official site, then check and allow it in Browser & computer settings.
  • Session capabilities. The conversation sidebar has compact switches for browser, computer, memory, thread communication, and web tools. New installations default to memory, thread communication, and web on, with browser and computer off. Existing explicit choices remain in effect. A globally disabled capability stays unavailable; a default-off capability can be enabled for a session or an explicitly configured profile.
  • Phone conversations. Notifications & messages separates two-way chat, push channels, and local alerts. Bind a paired phone chat to a persona or thread, change its target, and manage phone actions from settings or the conversation sidebar. Multiple accounts and incoming identities require an explicit choice, and reconnecting accounts are distinguished from listeners that are ready.
  • Plugin installation and settings. Marketplace ZIP installs use the published checksum. Plugin forms group related settings and offer existing connection choices. Custom settings panels receive the app's presentation context and resize to their content while keeping their own controls and wording.
  • Conversation recovery and external agents. A history-loading failure keeps the conversation open for retry. Replay checkpoints advance during long conversations, and recovery and shutdown wait for pending usage writes. Unchanged prompt refreshes preserve external session bindings. AgentSend keeps undelivered messages queued for the original child; attached MCP bridges use less startup memory and exit when their caller exits. Windows process details identify the service and CLI as Kiki.
  • Models and native Gemini. Model settings show the effective request format, endpoint, and credential source. Recipe overlays preserve the model's connection and credentials. Native Gemini requests preserve tool-result boundaries, and continuation responses no longer end a turn prematurely.
  • Everyday navigation. Create a conversation directly in a sidebar workspace. Up and Down navigate input history only at the text boundaries. Setup pages scroll when the window is short.
  • Spaces and Recipes. Cross-space thread listing and waiting no longer fail with an invalid bridge request. Child spaces can read installed Recipes from their base space with local overrides. Relative model Recipe paths resolve from the configuration that declares them; inherited packages can be copied or extended before editing.

Telegram, Feishu, QQ/OneBot, and WeChat have different message and attachment support. QQ does not accept files through the current bridge, and an unknown send failure is not treated as a length rejection and resent in pieces. The complete assistant reply remains available on the desktop. See Phone sessions for setup and platform behavior.

Install or upgrade

Update the desktop app and server together. Windows x64 uses the NSIS installer and includes the CLI. Linux x64 offers AppImage and deb packages; macOS offers Apple Silicon and Intel dmg packages.

For desktop and CLI through npm, use Node.js 24.22.1 or later on the 24 line, or Node.js 26.12.1 or later. Node.js 25 and Node.js 26 releases before 26.12.1 are not supported:

npm install -g kiki-agent@0.4.2

For CLI/TUI only:

npm install -g kiki-agent-lite@0.4.2

Standalone CLI downloads are kiki-linux-x64, kiki-linux-arm64, kiki-darwin-x64, and kiki-darwin-arm64, with adjacent .sha256 files. Windows receives the CLI through the installer or npm.

Kiki 0.4.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 19 Oct 05:59

Kiki 0.4.1

First public download after 0.3.3. It includes the 0.4.0 product line and the fixes landed on kiki since then. The installers, CLI binaries, and npm packages on this Release are built by GitHub Actions from this tag. They are not a previously built local candidate, and that local candidate was not installed or promoted.

Highlights

  • External engines and permissions. Antigravity sessions keep host-approved tool permissions, model-effort checks, and native conversation recovery. External agents can use their allowed Kiki tools under their own identity, and the GUI keeps replies for children running external engines.
  • Conversations, files, and previews. Thinking from one response stays in one timeline entry. File mentions can load past the first matches. The file pane can show sandboxed HTML and play native audio. Image attachments open in one viewer.
  • Plugins and setup. Plugin settings can use a plugin's own interface. The task board is an optional official plugin. First-run setup can store working preferences and install Kiki help into an existing agent.
  • Desktop and usage. Usage history can be reread from cache until the source records change. Windows Bash subprocesses are stopped with their process tree after a timeout or cancellation.

What this release does not claim

Source review and affected tests accepted the changes above before tagging. These items were not part of that acceptance:

  • Saving an edited text draft through the desktop writable path, and choosing a file with the native picker, were not exercised on an installed desktop.
  • Terminal color, cursor, and scrolling were not checked on a real TTY.
  • A shared Antigravity adapter was not pointed at a live URL, and the output layer was not checked on a newly deployed host.
  • The mail plugin is a separate package. It is not in this Release, and this version was not connected to a real mailbox.

Install or upgrade

Update the desktop app and server together. Existing conversation history, credentials, and drafts are left in place.

Kiki 0.3.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 07 Oct 07:02

Kiki 0.3.3

Start with something you want done, rather than a configuration interview. This release also improves desktop startup, long conversations, model controls, and usage history.

Highlights

  • Get started with Kiki. The last setup button opens a new conversation with a short request waiting in the composer: introduce Kiki, ask what you most want to finish, and do it once. Configuration comes up only when that task needs it; existing working settings stay as they are. Nothing is sent until you press Send. In Chinese, the button is 让 Kiki 带你上手.
  • Read and continue long conversations. Older message content and live output continue loading, queued model switches remain readable, and cold conversation lists and automatic rules load with less delay. Delivered images retain their full content.
  • Control models and prompts together. Edit complete model prompt bodies, use Recipes on models and agent profiles, customize session-title prompts, and apply pending model or reasoning changes at a safe boundary when sending immediately. Completed model switches and your selected model survive reopening a conversation.
  • See what work is doing. Running subagents, compaction states, and completion notifications reflect the conversation's work. Scheduled messages can queue, insert immediately, or wait for idle. Archiving a conversation also handles its attached conversations and shows progress.
  • Follow costs back to their sources. Usage history includes recorded provider and agent-profile attribution, filters, trends, and links to consumption sources, with faster repeated reads. Usage export no longer needs an experimental switch; export still requires your chosen destination and authorization.
  • A more dependable desktop. Startup no longer launches repeated background processes. Picture and video backgrounds reload correctly, documentation and sign-in links open in the system browser, and plugin settings open on their own pages.

Install or upgrade

Update the desktop app and server together. Recipes are available by default; an explicit setting that disables them remains respected. Existing conversation history, credentials, and drafts are not replaced by the new welcome request.

Kiki 0.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 04 Oct 18:06

Kiki 0.3.1

For users upgrading from 0.2, this release brings the workbench, connections, and long-running work into a more consistent interface. It also lets you bring conversations from other agent tools into Kiki and continue them without installing an import plugin.

Highlights

  • A clearer workbench. Finished stretches of tool calls fold into readable timeline entries; failures stay visible. Message annotations, a "Needs you" tray, and an agent-focused right rail keep drafts, approvals, questions, and subagent work together. The usage page separates History and Live views and marks missing usage as unknown rather than zero. Live request details open by default with model, provider, and role views you can switch between. Model settings pair short fields, and WebBridge shows its status and actions without a diagnostic panel.
  • More control over long work. Adjust the compaction point and choose Summarize, Fresh, or Auto context renewal. Fresh restarts from reviewed working notes only when the handoff is safe. Goals, per-message send timing, scheduled prompts, and persistent task-board cards help work continue across turns. Memory has global, workspace, and persona scopes, with a review inbox and undoable edits.
  • Personas and conversations stay connected. Each persona has a stable daily conversation, its own memory, and additional conversations you can switch between. Rooms let personas and existing threads discuss one topic with a host, pause/continue controls, and a message budget.
  • Spaces, remote Kikis, and browser access have separate controls. Spaces can share or isolate credentials. Remote connections require target-side approval; thread bridges grant only their named message operations. Web access offers temporary or persistent access through a one-time sign-in link and revocable browser sessions. A Web access link grants full access to this Kiki: share it only with someone you trust, and use HTTPS outside a trusted network. Session SSH hosts remain session resources rather than repeated message attachments.
  • Connections are one list. Add an API, local server, or account sign-in from the same flow. First-model setup opens connection settings for OAuth sign-in or API-key configuration. OAuth sign-in and recovery stay on each connection's row. ChatGPT (Codex) and Grok Build can reuse a sign-in on the server machine after you inspect the account; disconnecting it in Kiki removes Kiki's reference without signing out the other app.
  • Bring your history with you. Import Claude Code, Codex, Pi, Grok Build, OpenCode exports, or custom JSON/scripts as a continuable Kiki session or a read-only archive. Preview retained content and losses before importing; source files are unchanged. Old tool calls become history text, never replayed actions or permissions. Custom import scripts run as your account, not in a sandbox—choose only code you trust. See history import.
  • Inspect and extend capabilities. Search & retrieval shows the effective source, named lanes, and readiness. Kiki Documents extracts local files into Markdown; Kiki Notion connects to Notion's hosted MCP service. Plugins, skills, MCP servers, and prompt-field overrides remain separate extension choices. Plugin tools now retain media supplied by URL. Experimental media sources add image, video, and speech settings and job receipts, but generation is off by default; stopping a job ends the local wait, not necessarily provider work or charges.
  • Make the window your own. Six built-in light/dark skins, local picture or video backgrounds, appearance packs, and font/density controls apply without changing permissions. New illustrated feature guides cover the workbench, long work, personas, spaces, customization, and extensions.

Upgrade and compatibility

  • Migrate older agent-authoring fields before using them. The author fields subagents and subagent_policy, and host settings main_dispatch_policy and subagent_dispatch_policy, are removed. Use preferred_subagents for advice, allowed_subagents / deny_subagents for preset boundaries, and can_spawn_subagents: false for a leaf role. Explicit Markdown definitions remain independent of preset-name lists; saved bindings retain their role, model, prompt, and source snapshot, and existing conversation history is not erased. See subagent permissions.
  • Hard model lists are now literal boundaries. If allowed_models, deny_models, or allowed_efforts were only recommendations, move that advice to preferred_models, discouraged_models, or preferred_efforts. A saved binding outside a hard rule is rejected on resume; select an allowed value or deliberately revise the rule.
  • Fix packaged desktop startup with the shared daemon and intermittent failures when sending API responses. Server shutdown now closes unused TCP connections.
  • Fix missing messages when restoring older session snapshots and incorrect cursors when paging through saved history. Reading a nonexistent transcript no longer adds a phantom agent to the roster. Keep checkpoint indexes consistent for records updated during a checkpoint build.
  • Keep withdrawn input out of fresh model switches, activate capability changes before tool selection, and read saved session details without resuming sessions. ACP reports each session's actual permission mode on creation or restore.
  • Keep existing settings and credentials files owner-only on Unix during configuration updates.
  • Update desktop and server together. History import does not copy attachments, account credentials, approvals, or running tasks; read the preview's loss list before continuing an imported session. Scheduled prompts fire only while Kiki holds their session open.
  • Windows installers are not EV code-signed, so SmartScreen may prompt. The Windows x64 updater requires release-key-signed artifacts; this is not Windows code signing. macOS DMGs and standalone CLI files are unsigned and not notarized. Linux and macOS desktop updates are manual; see the installation guide.

Kiki 0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 03:07

Kiki 0.2.0

This release makes the desktop workspace easier to navigate and brings more of its setup and recovery controls into the app. It also adds a manual SSH connection path for a Kiki server you already run on another machine.

Highlights

  • The default send shortcut is now Ctrl/Cmd+Enter. Enter inserts a new line in the composer; use the send button or Ctrl/Cmd+Enter to submit. External links open in the system browser.
  • Stay oriented across agents and long sessions. The workspace keeps visible conversation progress when you switch agents or sessions. Earlier history loads on request instead of repeatedly fetching itself. Background tasks have paged lists and output receipts; messages to an external subagent show queued, delivered, or duplicate-acceptance results without discarding a draft on a mailbox conflict. Running agents keep their bound profile when definitions reload.
  • Richer file previews. Markdown files use Streamdown with CJK text, syntax-highlighted code, math, diagrams, and relative images. Large files start with a bounded preview and offer an explicit way to load the full document.
  • Agent and search fixes. Compatible ACP executors, starting with Grok, receive their profile as a system prompt. The session-title model can be saved in Settings. Full-text search retains its index after compaction on Windows.
  • Manage connections and search credentials in Settings. Reveal or replace a saved connection token without losing an in-progress edit. Search provider cards can reveal, replace, or clear server-managed credentials. WebBridge setup offers a guided runtime check and a version-pinned, SHA-256-checked download path; an observed working feature is not presented as proof of daemon identity or plugin authenticity.
  • Preview legacy model parameter changes before writing. Settings shows proposed copies into model parameters, review reasons, and available backup identifiers. Apply and restore are separate confirmed actions. Older fields remain in the config for review. Backups can contain plaintext secrets; keep them private. See the configuration guide before restoring a backup after further edits.
  • Connect to an already-running remote Kiki manually. The desktop SSH profile uses an SSH config host alias, a port, an expected server home ID obtained through a trusted channel, and a bearer token that is not saved. Trust the SSH host key first. This path does not install or upload a remote server; older servers without a home ID need upgrading. Manual remote connections remain experimental; this release has not been exercised against a real remote host.

Compatibility and known limits

  • Update the desktop client and local Kiki server together. Transcript readers require the versioned coverage response; a mixed old/new pair rejects an unconfirmed history read instead of presenting it as complete.
  • The usage dashboard can still show a partial total on large histories: its query has scan budgets and cached results, and the session and agent panels use different summaries. Unified persistent accounting across subagents is planned, not part of 0.2.0. NB-IM is also not included.
  • Windows installers are not EV code-signed, so SmartScreen may prompt on first launch. The macOS DMGs are unsigned and not notarized; see the installation guide. The built-in Windows updater accepts only release-key-signed artifacts.

Kiki 0.1.3

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Sep 18:33

Kiki 0.1.3

The third feature update for Kiki — a local-first AI coding agent with a TUI, a browser/desktop GUI, and a shared local daemon. This release is mostly about speed: long sessions, big transcripts, and busy agent fleets no longer stall the app. It also brings the desktop app to Linux and macOS, npm installs, and a much shorter first run. Highlights below; the full changelog is in the commit history.

Highlights

Performance across the board

  • Faster session switching: reopening a session no longer re-reads and re-renders its entire saved transcript before showing anything; large sessions open noticeably sooner.
  • Hidden subagent tabs stop replaying: a background agent tab releases its transcript subscription until you bring it back, instead of continuously replaying the wire log.
  • Cheaper previews: text previews read only the first ~512 KB of a file, image previews decode a bounded thumbnail, and repeat previews reuse ETag cache hits instead of downloading the file again. Range requests against saved blobs now stream the requested range instead of reading the whole blob.
  • Paginated task lists: the task board and cron panel load 100 items per page with on-demand "load more", and task status filtering happens on the server.
  • Calmer rendering: composer drafts batch their writes (400 ms) instead of serializing on every keystroke, the agent tree and floor navigator virtualize long lists, and old timestamps tick once a minute instead of driving a per-second re-render of the whole rail.
  • No redundant auto compaction: an overflow compaction in auto permission mode no longer triggers a second, pointless compaction (and its extra LLM call) right after.

First run, redone

  • Three steps, saved as you go: the onboarding wizard is shorter, Next saves what you entered, and model probes run on the server with your unsaved key — no more "probe failed" from an unreachable browser-side request.
  • Default permission mode is now auto (behavior change): new sessions let the agent work autonomously without per-action prompts. If you prefer approving each action, switch to manual in the composer mode menu or Settings. The previous hints for auto/yolo were also corrected — they had been swapped.
  • The composer mode trigger shows the current mode and an honest option list.

Desktop on every platform

  • Linux: AppImage and .deb for x64. macOS: dmg for Apple Silicon and Intel (unsigned, not notarized — see the installation guide for first open).
  • One installer story: the Windows installer and the full npm package both include the CLI; kiki desktop launches the desktop app from the terminal.
  • npm: npm install -g kiki-agent (desktop + CLI) or kiki-agent-lite (CLI/TUI only). Requires Node.js 24.15+.

Known issues

  • The main panel's fleet-wide token total shows "unknown" while any completed subagent is present, instead of summing the available agents (the aggregation was narrowed; a fix follows).
  • When a cron watch subscription fails, the fallback polling interval is longer than before; scheduled tasks still run, but the panel may refresh less promptly.

Kiki 0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Sep 18:41

Kiki 0.1.2

The second feature update for Kiki — a local-first AI coding agent with a TUI, a browser/desktop GUI, and a shared local daemon. This release is mostly about subagent collaboration you can rely on, a calmer session timeline, and fewer setup steps. Highlights below; the full changelog is in the commit history.

Highlights

Subagent collaboration

  • Messages that come back: a subagent you resume with a message now registers its wake-up correctly, and when it finishes the parent receives the completion notice — no more waiting on a child that already answered.
  • An honest roster: resumed subagents stay visible in the agent rail, with a time-limited refreshing state while a completed child is recreated (an already-loaded idle child may still be absent until its next task starts). Stalled roster refreshes now expire, and disposed "ghost" agents can no longer surface as live nodes in the agent tree.
  • Scoped stops: stopping a subagent also stops its live descendants while preserving their resumable scopes, and cancelling one subagent's prompt no longer takes down unrelated active or queued prompts on the same agent.
  • Remaining-work notices: completion notices and agent-stop results now name the subagents that are still running, so a turn that is not really finished no longer looks clean.
  • ThreadCreate: agents can open a new session themselves, with an optional title, directory, main-agent profile, and starting prompt.

Session timeline

  • Fold steps: consecutive tool, shell, and thinking steps collapse into one expandable block, with a settings toggle that applies instantly; folded groups refresh as their members change and keep the original step order.
  • Settings density: the fold-steps switch moved into the composer card so the General settings section fits a 1280×800 screen again, and legacy transcript-search terms still find it.
  • Unsent annotations survive switching between conversations.
  • Media previews work again: images and videos from earlier local reads preview in the timeline, saved tool-image crops replay instead of showing the uncropped original, and local WebP images and videos are served with the MIME types browsers actually preview.

Workspaces, models, and first run

  • A workspace is optional when starting a session: kiki creates one automatically on your first send, and rolls it back cleanly when creation or registration fails instead of leaving an unused or duplicated workspace behind.
  • Credentials are editable: saved provider keys are shown and can be changed, and pulling the model list probes with your unsaved key. Newly pulled models default to a 250k context with thinking and tool use enabled.
  • Shorter first run: a shorter setup prompt and fixed skill activation in the onboarding wizard.

Skills and search

  • Built-in skills open as read-only SKILL.md preview tabs from their embedded content; file-backed skills still open from their real paths.
  • nb-search needs no configuration: repository search works out of the box, with optional keyless web search.
  • Multiple provider keys rotate across synchronous web-tool calls, and detached jobs schedule their keys independently.

Agent guidance

  • Default profiles now teach bounded delegation and evidence-scoped exploration, require multi-sample reading for form and convention evidence, and carry a short "Content and tone" section.

Fixes worth noting

  • Sessions left locked after their previous process exited can be reopened — expired locks are taken over and swept at startup.
  • One damaged session's saved data no longer hides healthy sessions from the session index.
  • Disk-backed reads no longer fail during WAL compaction on Windows.
  • A model's own thinking default now takes precedence over the global thinking effort.

Downloads

Windows desktop app (recommended)

  • Kiki_0.1.2_x64-setup.exe — NSIS installer with the built-in updater.
  • Kiki_0.1.2_x64-setup.exe.sig — updater signature (already embedded in latest.json; you do not need it for a manual install).
  • Kiki_0.1.2_x64-setup.exe.sha256 — SHA-256 checksum of the installer.

Command-line agent (all platforms)

Standalone single-file executables, no Node.js install required:

Platform Archive
Windows x64 kiki-win32-x64.zip
Windows ARM64 kiki-win32-arm64.zip
macOS Intel kiki-darwin-x64.zip
macOS Apple Silicon kiki-darwin-arm64.zip
Linux x64 kiki-linux-x64.zip
Linux ARM64 kiki-linux-arm64.zip

Each archive is paired with a <archive>.zip.sha256 checksum file.

Verifying downloads

Every binary above has a SHA-256 checksum file next to it. Verify with:

# macOS / Linux
shasum -a 256 kiki-darwin-arm64.zip
# then compare with kiki-darwin-arm64.zip.sha256

# Windows (PowerShell)
Get-FileHash Kiki_0.1.2_x64-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256
# then compare with Kiki_0.1.2_x64-setup.exe.sha256

Windows SmartScreen notice

The Kiki Windows installer is not code-signed with an EV certificate, so Windows SmartScreen and Microsoft Defender may show an "unrecognized app" warning on first launch. This is expected for this release.

To install:

  1. Run Kiki_0.1.2_x64-setup.exe.
  2. If SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info.
  3. Click Run anyway.

The installer is verifiable through the SHA-256 checksum above, and the built-in updater only installs artifacts signed by our release key (see latest.json). We plan to ship code signing in a later release.

macOS and Linux desktop apps

The Tauri desktop app is Windows-only in 0.1.2. macOS and Linux users can use the command-line executable above; the desktop GUI will follow in a later release. On macOS, the CLI is unsigned, so clear Gatekeeper explicitly for the extracted binary (xattr -d com.apple.quarantine kiki) before running it.

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Sep 02:08

Kiki 0.1.1

The first feature update for Kiki — a local-first AI coding agent with a TUI, a browser/desktop GUI, and a shared local daemon. Highlights below; the full changelog is in the commit history.

Highlights

Agent system

  • Subagent messaging: message a running or settled subagent directly from its timeline card, wake idle children, and steer them with the same composer as the main agent.
  • model_alias: inherit: profiles can now explicitly follow the dispatching agent's model and thinking effort — no more silent fallbacks or dead profiles after switching providers.
  • First-launch starter profiles: opt-in implementer and reviewer example profiles offered during onboarding (never auto-installed).
  • Advisory dispatch policy: structured dispatch decisions and badges across agent surfaces; kiki doctor agents validates profiles.
  • Goal mode with a durable prompt queue, plus app-wide cron tasks with a global scheduled-tasks panel.

Desktop app

  • Automatic updates: the desktop app now self-updates from signed release artifacts.
  • Tabbed preview workspace with fullscreen and embedded agent panels; the shared right rail follows whichever agent you're looking at, with an explicit owner badge.
  • Timeline annotations: quote and comment on any passage; marks and bubbles now reliably appear even when annotating an already-rendered message.
  • Searchable model picker with provider auto-fill, honest provider catalog refresh, and persisted provider credentials split into a separate file.
  • Real message totals on session open; historical subagents restore their stored model/effort/status instead of showing "unreported".
  • Failure reasons surfaced across timeline, toasts, and agent views; terminal subagents are messageable with Ctrl+Enter.

CLI and server

  • kiki session show / kiki session list — read-only local session inspection.
  • Server startup no longer blocks on session-index and workspace warmups.
  • Upstream identity compatibility switch for the CLI.

Fixes worth noting

  • Queued-message cancellation, prompt-queue ordering, and Send-now binding races.
  • White screen when the GUI connected through a same-origin websocket endpoint.
  • Pane-resize drag handling, timeline row overlap, and task-board progressive loading.
