v1.0.0
c02f38b

The first release of the Ansible role and operator guide for running XRP Ledger stock nodes and a validator behind them.

This release follows an external review of the role and the guide, and a comparison of the configuration the role renders with our own mainnet validator and stock nodes running xrpld 3.4.1.

Highlights

  • Packages from the XRP Ledger Foundation. The role installs xrpld from packages.xrplf.org. The old repos.ripple.com source stops at 3.3.0 for Ubuntu 24.04 and is removed from hosts set up earlier.
  • Secrets stay out of the output. --check --diff no longer prints the decrypted validator token and node seed, and the guide encrypts the token from standard input so it does not land in shell history.
  • The validator stays private. Its peer port listens on xrpld_private_address, and the role refuses a validator whose peer port would face the internet.
  • Safe rollouts. Stock nodes are restarted one at a time, and the run waits for each to sync before touching the next. A node that does not come back stops the run.
  • Tested in CI. Template renders for both node roles on mainnet, testnet and devnet, refusals of invalid settings and checks that no secret reaches the output, on ansible-core 2.16 and 2.21.
  • A corrected guide. The key ceremony deploys the token issued by set_domain, and the explanation of [peers_max] matches xrpld 3.3.0 and 3.4.1.

Upgrading from an untagged checkout

Rename xrpld_apt_component to xrpld_apt_channel, drop any xrpld_version pin to 3.3.x, set xrpld_private_address on validators reached over a public address, and use ansible-core 2.16 or newer. The changelog has the full list.
