This second maintenance candidate requires owner authentication to decrypt or replace PDF security settings, checks source copy permission before importing pages, and includes queued edits in the close/open save prompt. File → Reopen with owner password also supports restricted PDFs with an empty user password.

Canvas and thumbnail requests are cancelled when invalidated or outside the viewport prefetch range. A regression exposed MuPDF discarding redo history before an edit committed; the journal patch now preserves history when a partial edit is abandoned. Full core ASan/UBSan checks also exposed signed AES shifts, annotation and unchanged-redaction-image reference leaks, and null page/optional mask pointer arithmetic; these paths are corrected. Qt remains 6.11.2 and MuPDF 1.28.6. All six maintenance patches are included in the full corresponding-source archive.

See the second-pass report. This is a prerelease; stable Latest is unchanged. PDF permission enforcement relies on reader cooperation, and render cancellation remains cooperative. Physical printers, macOS hardware and the full high-DPI/input-method matrix remain outside this acceptance scope.

• Downloaded Windows portable ZIP and full source archive SHA-256 values match the published digests. The source archive matches all six patched engine files and the empty-user-password permission fixture. The portable ZIP contains required Qt runtime/plugins and excludes test/benchmark executables and Qt6Test.
• Package inventory clarification: the Windows RC.2 package contains Qt Core/Gui/Widgets/PrintSupport, qwindows, the modern Windows style, GIF/ICO/JPEG plugins, en/zh_CN translations, and VC runtime libraries. The Windows paragraph in docs/dependencies.md is broader than this actual release: Qt6Svg and Mesa opengl32sw are not shipped in RC.2 and are not required by this package. The verified asset inventory above takes precedence for this release.
• The actual downloaded Windows EXE passed DLL preflight, PE file/product version checks, and both --version and Qt-initializing --help checks with 10-second timeouts. Version: v1.0.5-rc.2.
• Stable Latest remains v1.0.4. Physical printers, macOS hardware and the complete high-DPI/input-method matrix remain outside this acceptance.

This maintenance candidate fixes crashes during repeated encrypted saves, saved undo-state tracking, sliced search leaving the document thread, incorrect anonymous-watermark batch removal, and incomplete copy/print permission enforcement. A disposable complete PDF graph preserves catalog data, forms, outlines and metadata without mutating the live undo journal. Failed saves retain edit state; Windows can atomically replace the open source file.

Printing gains cancellation, a bounded wait and document-change cancellation; low-resolution permission caps output at 150 DPI. Every render request returns a terminal result, tile retry state is preserved, raster concurrency and image allocation are bounded, and viewport painting no longer spans the full document. Long crash-path overflow and password erasure are also corrected.

MuPDF is updated to 1.28.6 with upstream parser, font, image and brotli fixes; Qt remains 6.11.2. Regression and instrumented ASan/UBSan fuzz checks are added. See the maintenance report.

• Final local regressions: core 23 passed, UI 5 passed; CTest 2/2, 12.30 seconds. The sanitizer smoke replayed 3 seeds and completed 1,063 mutation/input runs in 31 seconds without sanitizer findings. This is bounded coverage, not proof of no vulnerabilities.
• Final patched-engine stability: 50 cycles / 5,000 pages, zero errors; post-warmup RSS growth 0.754 MiB. The complex-font/image corpus rendered 15 pages with zero errors. Earlier crossover measurements remain the basis for the report's conclusion that a stable overall speedup has not been established.
• All five assets are present, with GitHub SHA-256 digests. Every binary package is below 90 MiB. Downloaded Windows portable and full-source bytes matched their published digests; the source archive's Little CMS callback and MuPDF empty-bitmap fixes matched the verified source hashes. The portable package excludes tests, benchmark and Qt6Test.dll; DLL preflight and actual nexPDF v1.0.5-rc.1 startup passed.

This release candidate completes a full computer-use-driven Windows UI acceptance pass and fixes the one issue it found:

• Edits no longer reset the view: the scroll position is preserved when a revision rebuild keeps the same page layout.
• Acceptance covered: CJK corpus rendering, damaged-xref repair on open, AES-256 password unlock, optional-content layers, transparency blending, a 4000×3000 image, search highlight with match cycling, drag-to-place text (white box, dark text), and cross-session reading-position restore.

This is a release candidate, not the Latest production release. Clean-VM smoke tests and macOS/Linux spot checks remain gates for v1.0.0. Packages are not code-signed; Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper may warn. Verify the SHA-256 digest shown by GitHub after downloading, and only process PDFs you own or are authorized to modify.

• 搜索结果现在在页面上以黄色高亮显示，当前命中项为橙色；重复按回车在命中项之间循环跳转，视图自动滚动到当前命中位置，状态栏显示"第 k / N 处"。
• 修复"添加文字"渲染为大黑块的问题：MuPDF 的 FreeText 注释把 /C 颜色用作文本框背景色，此前背景与文字同为黑色导致整块变黑。现在文本框为白色背景、文字使用所选颜色。
• "添加文字"与"添加图片"不再静默落到页面固定位置：输入内容或选择图片后，在页面上拖动一个矩形决定放置位置与大小，状态栏会提示当前操作。

这是候选版，不是 Latest 正式版。完整人工界面检查和性能验收仍是正式 v1.0.0 的前置门槛。发布包不含代码签名，Windows 可能显示 SmartScreen，macOS 可能显示 Gatekeeper 警告；下载后请核对 GitHub 显示的 SHA-256 摘要，并只处理您拥有权利或已获授权的 PDF。

This release candidate fixes three viewing and editing issues reported during manual acceptance:

• Search results are now highlighted on the page in yellow, with the active match in orange; pressing Enter repeatedly cycles through matches while the view scrolls to the active one, and the status bar shows "Match k of N".
• Fixed "Add text" rendering as a large black block: MuPDF's FreeText annotation uses the /C color as the text-box background, and the background previously matched the text color. The box now has a white background while the text uses the chosen color.
• "Add text" and "Add image" no longer drop content at a fixed page location: after entering text or choosing an image, drag a rectangle on the page to set the placement and size, guided by a status-bar hint.
