Zone of the Enders on PC: a native Windows version of the PlayStation 2 game, recompiled to run directly on your PC.

You need your own copy of the game: a disc image (.iso) of the USA release of Zone of the Enders (SLUS-20148); the
undub release of the same disc works too. This download contains no game assets.

Made for a controller. This release is set up and tested for playing with a game controller (DualShock 4,
DualSense, Xbox and similar). Keyboard controls exist but are not tuned yet. For now the options menu (Esc) needs
the keyboard: Q/E switch sections, arrow keys move and change values, Enter selects, Esc closes.

Getting started

  1. Download ZOE-Recompiled-v1.0.0-win64.zip below and unzip it anywhere (not inside Program Files).
  2. Run ZOE-Recompiled.exe, click BROWSE and pick your disc image. It is checked and remembered.
  3. START plays.

If Windows reports MSVCP140.dll missing, install the
Visual C++ Redistributable (x64).

What you get

  • 60 frames per second, including the heaviest boss fights
  • Widescreen 16:9 with the HUD placed for it, progressive output, higher internal resolutions
  • Save states (F5 save, F8 load, F6/F7 slot) alongside the game's own memory card saves
  • Keyboard and controller support (DualShock 4, DualSense, Xbox, Switch Pro and others), remappable, with DualShock 2
    pressure buttons and rumble
  • Two controllers for Versus mode, which can be unlocked without a cleared save (Esc › Extras)

Known issues

  • The options menu (Esc) and the boot screen don't follow a controller reliably yet; use the keyboard there
    (Q/E sections, arrows, Enter, Esc). In game, controllers work normally.
  • Rarely, the game freezes when the warehouse before the second Neith fight loads; load your save and try again.
  • A freeze was reported once after the long lift movie to the final area.
  • A few cockpit-view HUD details sit slightly out of place.

PS2Recomp/MODIFIED.md), with the PCSX2 SPU2 sound core. Third-party licences are in the zip

Konami.
