From my understanding just installing cron in a container does not start the cron process.

I think it would make sense to deploy a on container for the app (maybe more) and a second one just for the periodic task.

Hi @ski7777, I have prepared and already incorporated a solution to the problem by using a python based crontab solution and customizing the existing supervisord configuration. I think this is a better solution than the sidecar container as the job is executed on the same container and no configuration needs to be moved. Furthermore, this solution is closer to the upstream existing container and integrates easily into the existing Supervisord configuration.
