Wine 11.20 for Haiku, test build 16
Wine 11.20 from the ablyssx74/wine Haiku fork, as a package for 64-bit Haiku (x86_64). Same as test build 15, plus:
What's new
- Direct3D 10/11 programs are no longer drawn upside down (Unreal Tournament 4's launcher and menus). The OpenGL bridge now reads the window's own framebuffer, not one the program left bound for reading.
- Programs that use OpenGL close normally with Nebula: the bridge leaves quickly at exit and no longer aborts inside a pthread mutex.
WINE_HAIKU_GL_DEBUG=1also prints when an OpenGL context is made or destroyed.
Known problems
- The previous list still applies (Firefox, the first start in a new prefix, Unreal Tournament in true fullscreen).
- Unreal Tournament 4 is slow even at low settings.
- In Unreal Tournament 469 with Nebula, changing the mouse input mode asks to restart the game, and the old game then freezes and cannot be killed.
- DXVK does not work (the Haiku driver has no Vulkan support); do not install it in the prefix.
- Run
wineserver -kbefore testing a change toWINE_HAIKU_*variables: a running wineserver keeps the environment it was started with.
Install
Click wine11-11.20-16-x86_64.hpkg and install with Haiku's package manager.
For 32-bit programs also install the wine_compat kernel add-on (included, unchanged since test build 10; see wine_compat-README.md). 64-bit programs do not need it. More about the add-on: https://github.com/ablyssx74/wine/tree/master/haiku/wine_compat

Wine 11.20 for Haiku, test build 15
Wine 11.20 from the ablyssx74/wine Haiku fork, as a package for 64-bit Haiku (x86_64). Same as test build 11, plus:
What's new
- OpenGL works with Nebula (the NVIDIA driver, whose OpenGL is Zink on NVK through libglvnd). Nebula removes Mesa, and the Haiku OpenGL bridge (
libwinehglshim.so) needed Mesa'slibglapi.so.0, so it could not load and Wine was left with no OpenGL. It no longer needs it. - The picture fills the window with Nebula (it was drawn in a 64x64 square at the bottom left). Unreal Tournament 469 with the XOpenGL renderer runs on the GPU.
- If libEGL advertises the Wayland platform but has no configs, the Haiku bridge is used instead of EGL.
WINE_HAIKU_GL=eglorhglforces one or the other. WINE_HAIKU_GL_DEBUG=1prints the window, surface and viewport sizes now and then.
Known problems
- The previous list still applies (Firefox, the first start in a new prefix, Unreal Tournament in true fullscreen).
- With Nebula the game has crashed once inside Zink's worker thread (
zink_make_texture_handle_resident); settingUseBindlessTextures=Falsein the game'sUnrealTournament.iniis the first thing to try. - Run
wineserver -kbefore testing a change toWINE_HAIKU_*variables: a running wineserver keeps the environment it was started with.
Install

Wine 11.20 for Haiku, test build 11
Wine 11.20 from the ablyssx74/wine Haiku fork, as a package for 64-bit Haiku (x86_64). Build 11 fixes the network adapter information; everything else is as in build 10.
What's new in build 11
- Programs can see the network adapters again. Wine on Haiku used to report no network adapters and no routes at all (
GetAdaptersAddressesfailed), so programs that check for a connection first, decided the computer was offline. Wine now lists the adapters (their state, address and DNS servers), the loopback interface and the routing table of the network stack. A few interfaces were also being listed again and again; that is fixed.
What works
- 64-bit Windows programs.
- 32-bit Windows programs (WoW64) on a stock kernel, through the separate
wine_compatkernel add-on (included in this release). - Sound through Haiku's own sound player (
winehaiku.drv). - OpenGL through Haiku's
BGLView; Direct3D 9 and 11 through Wine's wined3d on top of it. - Its own copy of the Wayland server, with a working mouse for games: pointer lock, relative motion, Raw Input, DirectInput, a hidden cursor, and a borderless full-screen window. Unreal Tournament 469 is the test case.
- Processor information, time zone, the network adapters, and a few Haiku-specific crash and hang fixes.
Known problems
- A new prefix can come out without 32-bit support (about one in fifteen): Wine runs a 32-bit helper to set up the 32-bit part of a prefix, and that helper sometimes crashes at start. Then
syswow64in the prefix is empty and every 32-bit program stops withcould not load kernel32.dll. Delete the prefix and create it again. - A program that is first started in a brand-new prefix needs a minute or two on a slow machine; wait for the "configuration is being updated" box.
- Steam installs and updates itself, but its window does not show yet: the browser it is built on (Chromium) loses its graphics process.
- Firefox: a normal install of
firefox.exeshows a blank white window instead of loading pages. A FirefoxPortable profile renders pages, but on Nebula some websites (video sites) can freeze the system. - With Mesa installed over Nebula without a reboot, OpenGL images have been seen upside down.
- Unreal Tournament in true fullscreen can start with scrambled lines until the mode is changed; borderless window mode at full resolution works well.
Install
Copy wine11-11.20-11-x86_64.hpkg to your home folder first, then move it into /system/packages (a half-copied file makes the package daemon reject it). Remove the older wine11 package from there first.
For 32-bit programs also install the wine_compat kernel add-on (see wine_compat-README.md): copy wine_compat to
~/config/non-packaged/add-ons/kernel/drivers/bin/ and make the link ~/config/non-packaged/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/misc/wine_compat
pointing at ../../bin/wine_compat (create the bin and dev/misc folders if they don't exist). The add-on is tested on hrev60299+6; on
other builds it reports that it cannot hook the kernel and 32-bit programs stay disabled, while 64-bit programs are not affected.

Debugging switches
WINE_HAIKU_POINTER_TRACE=1 prints what the pointer lock does once a second. WINE_HAIKU_POINTER_LOCK=perevent|off, WINE_HAIKU_NO_CONSTRAINTS=1, WINE_HAIKU_NO_RELATIVE=1 and WINE_HAIKU_ABSOLUTE_POINTER=0 turn parts of the mouse handling off.
