Signed with the same key as 1.0–1.2, so it installs straight over an existing copy.
What is new
- A broken streak can be rescued. Miss a day and you are offered the streak back for 25 coins,
and the offer waits three days rather than one. If you cannot afford it, it says nothing at all. - The calendar button now tells you where your streak stands instead of building a level.
- The word lists repair themselves. The app checks once, after the board is up, whether a list on
the server still matches the copy on your device, and quietly fetches it again if it does not.
Nothing is swapped mid-game — the new copy is read at the next launch. - A faster, lighter start. Parsing a list is roughly three times quicker, the definitions are
streamed off disk instead of held in memory twice, and a truncated or oversized download is now
refused rather than cached. - A first launch that survives a theme change. Switching to dark mode while the word lists were
still downloading could leave you on "Could not load the word list"; that is fixed.
Under the hood
Cleartext traffic is off and the trust anchor is the system store. No ads, no tracking, no
third-party libraries — pure Kotlin on the Android framework, as always.
Word Swipe 1.2
Word Swipe 1.2 — the polish release: the levels ask better words, and the reward screen is finally ours.
Since 1.1:
- A familiarity ceiling on the words a level demands. The difficulty curve already picked the base word by how well-known it is; now it also steers which words a level requires of you. An obscure word can still be found as a bonus word, but it no longer stands between you and the next level.
- Our own reward panel. The level-complete screen is drawn by the app (
WinPanel) instead of borrowed from the system, so the stars, the coin count and the bonus target sit where they belong. - Our own pictograms. Eight drawn icons replaced the emoji that used to sit on the rounded pills — the coin, the stars, the trophy, the calendar, the dice, the statistics, the shuffle and the hint. Four glyphs stayed emoji on purpose: those are prose, not controls.
- Runs in less memory. The definition file is parsed as it streams in rather than after being read whole, which took peak heap from 40.9 MB to 29.4 MB, and downloads now land on disk through a
.partfile instead of being held in aString. - Edge to edge on Android 15. The toolchain moved to AGP 8.7.3 / Gradle 8.9 / Kotlin 2.0.21 with
targetSdk 35, which draws the app under the system bars. The top bar is now padded out of a punch-hole camera by hand, because the theme cannot do it — measured on an Android 15 screen with a 136 px cutout inset. - "1 bonuswoord gevonden" no longer reads as a plural.

100 JVM tests green, lintVitalDirectRelease clean, and the debug screenshot harness confirmed absent from the release dex. Verified on a Motorola edge 30 neo by hand: campaign levels 1–5 play well on the new curve, and a swipe started on the wheel's outer edge is not swallowed by the system back-gesture — re-checked on targetSdk 35, because edge-to-edge moves the wheel relative to the screen edge.
Still: no ads, no tracking, no billing, no third-party runtime dependencies.
Word Swipe 1.1 — the campaign release
Word Swipe 1.1 — the campaign release.
Since 1.0:
- Numbered campaign with a difficulty curve over 100 levels, three stars per level (finished / no hint / bonus target) and a replayable level list.
- Base words you actually recognise. A new self-hosted frequency list ranks the word pool by familiarity, so a seed picks a common word instead of an obscure one. Every daily level shifted once as a result.
- Animations and haptics: letters landing one after another along a found word, coins arcing to the counter, a confetti-and-three-stars celebration on level complete, a shake on a word the level doesn't have. Honours the system "Remove animations" setting.
- A message pill instead of
Toast, announced to accessibility services. - Saved games are now guarded. A level is stored as a seed, so a change to the shared word lists used to make the same seed rebuild a different board. Snapshots now carry a board fingerprint and are dropped rather than corrupted, and the hint count is per attempt so the "no hint" star can't be laundered by leaving a level.

Verified on a Motorola edge 30 neo as an update over the live 1.0: cold start 223/182/167 ms, player state intact, level 1 finished with three stars and an exact coin count, celebration 138 frames / 2.6 s with 3 janky. lintVitalRelease clean, the JVM test suite green, and the debug screenshot harness confirmed stripped from the release dex.
