@acchuang acchuang released this 27 Oct 06:36

Tested on macOS 27.0.1 and 27.2. Older versions are untested; see Known limitations in the README.

  • Refreshed app icon: High-contrast tactile graphite and warm cream icon (16×16 through 1024×1024).
  • Outside-click re-hide uses the right screen: Measures the menu bar on the screen you clicked, not the key-window screen, and sizes the bar from that screen's real height (30 pt external, 38 pt notched).
  • Multi-display negative-X support: Menu bar items on a display left of the primary are now detected.
  • Settings warning for unsupported macOS: Warns in Settings > General when the private MenuBarClientCore API is missing.
  • Scanner fix & unit tests: Fixed a malformed bundle ID in the scanner's exclusion list, removed unused ItemMover, and added unit tests for isOnMenuBar.

Ad-hoc signed, not notarized: run xattr -cr /Applications/MenuTuck.app after copying. After updating, remove MenuTuck from System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility with – and add it again (or tccutil reset Accessibility com.acchuang.MenuTuck, then relaunch).

@acchuang acchuang released this 26 Oct 09:35

Tested on macOS 27.0.1 only. Older versions are untested; see Known limitations in the README.

  • Fixes repeated Accessibility windows and system prompts when the permission is missing: MenuTuck now prompts once per launch instead of on every menu bar layout change.
  • If activating in-place hiding fails, state is cleared so the next apply retries.
  • scripts/package.sh no longer overwrites the installed app.

  • Adds MIT LICENSE and scripts/package.sh.
  • README claims trimmed to measured facts.

Ad-hoc signed, not notarized: run xattr -cr /Applications/MenuTuck.app after copying. After updating, toggle MenuTuck off and on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
