ACRYL 0.2.6: everything since 0.2.5 (17 Oct), on every surface: Desktop (macOS, Windows, Linux), Web and the terminal CLI.

The npm CLI works on Windows, and acryl web works everywhere

  • npm install -g acryl on Windows starts again: 0.2.5's selector refused its own runtime there.
  • acryl web finds and downloads its Web runtime from the release (in 0.2.5 it looked for the wrong file and refused GitHub's download redirect).
  • Stopping acryl stops the Web server it started and frees its port, also when a supervisor sends the signal to acryl alone.
  • The CLI and Web runtimes no longer ship test tooling (about 30 MB less per install).
  • Every change now runs the npm round trip on Linux and Windows: pack, npm install -g, acryl --version, acryl web, stop.

ACRYL's own web framework (acrylblends)

  • ACRYL's HTTP routes run on its own router, a Cordis plugin: a plugin builds an app and mounts it under one path, and unloading the plugin ends what it was serving.
  • Desktop, sign-in, the workspace (terminal included), plugin admin, diagnostics and the startup hold all moved to it.
  • The framework is published as acrylblends and ACRYL depends on the published package: Node server, JSX, static site generation, hosting adapters, and a todo reference app.

Data

  • A database port with SQLite, Postgres and embedded Postgres (PGlite) providers, and a key-value port with JSON-file and database providers.

Drive an app from outside (the Door)

  • One verb list for the CLI, MCP and the built-in chat; an app folder carries its own .acryl/bin/acryl; acryl control list finds every running app and its real port.

Fixes

  • DeepSeek's product analytics are off on every surface.
  • Desktop runs on Electron 44.9.3.
  • A page opened while the app installs its own plugins waits for them instead of loading without them.
  • The terminal's PATH lookup no longer freezes the app for up to three seconds.
  • Save catches short literal passwords and tokens.
  • Vite 8.2.4 closes 6 Dependabot alerts.
