PageVault 1.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@akarazhev akarazhev released this 29 Oct 18:33
d4034ff

PageVault 1.5.0 adds desktop Firefox 140+ support. Chromium and Firefox packages share capture, the durable queue, search and the archive interface. The archive remains local SQLite schema 1, and Chromium's extension identity is unchanged.

Downloads

  • PageVault-1.5.0.zip: both extension folders, installers, source and six helper binaries for macOS, Linux and Windows on amd64/arm64.
  • PageVault-Extension-1.5.0.zip: standalone Chromium extension.
  • PageVault-Firefox-1.5.0.xpi: Mozilla-signed Firefox extension for permanent installation.
  • PageVault-Firefox-1.5.0.zip: unsigned Firefox package for temporary development installation or submission to Mozilla AMO.
  • PageVault-1.5.0-macOS-unsigned.pkg: unsigned universal macOS helper installer, including an optional Firefox component.

Each artifact has a matching SHA-256 file. See the installation and upgrade documentation in the bundle.

Firefox setup

Install the helper with ./install.sh firefox or install-windows.cmd firefox; the macOS PKG also offers Firefox. The stable add-on ID is pagevault@pagevault.local.

Install PageVault-Firefox-1.5.0.xpi through about:addons → gear menu → Install Add-on From File. Install the helper separately. The unsigned ZIP and the bundle's extension-firefox folder are development copies for temporary installation through about:debugging. Self-distributed updates are installed manually; no automatic update feed is configured.

Firefox's browsing-activity and website-content disclosure covers transfer to the local Native Messaging helper. PageVault has no telemetry or remote collection service. Browser settings and queues are separate even when browsers share an archive.

Verification

Local macOS arm64 Go tests, vet and race detector passed, together with Chromium/Firefox tests, static checks and dependency vulnerability checks. All six helper targets and all artifact checksums were verified. Mozilla web-ext reported no errors and one Android compatibility warning; Android is outside the supported scope.

The isolated installer probe verified Unicode SQLite writes, process restart/readback and archive-preserving uninstallation. The Mozilla-signed XPI was verified with signature checks enabled: the unsigned package was rejected, the signed package was installed permanently, and the extension remained active after Firefox restart in an isolated profile. The application assets and parsed manifest match the submitted ZIP. Interactive Windows/macOS GUI installation has not been verified.

GitHub Actions CI passed all 10 jobs: Ubuntu, Windows and macOS test suites, all six cross-builds and vulnerability checks. Linux passed all 47 Firefox tests, including browser-to-SQLite Native Messaging commit/readback.

The Firefox XPI retains its original Mozilla signature and is distributed with its SHA-256 checksum.

PageVault 1.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@akarazhev akarazhev released this 28 Oct 18:14

PageVault 1.4.0 makes the project English-only and hardens local capture, archive access, installation and release packaging.

Changes

  • Preserve permanently rejected captures with explicit JSON export, retry and discard; keep unrelated captures moving through the queue.
  • Correct table text limits, release observers for removed iframe documents, and bound sanitized HTML construction.
  • Reject foreign or incomplete SQLite archives before changing them. Protect archives from macOS package payload collisions before installation.
  • Paginate native site discovery and enforce MCP input bounds while preserving exact 64-bit archive identifiers.
  • Restore existing artifacts on ordinary publication failures, including checksum failures.
  • Add cross-platform CI, pinned development tools, dependency vulnerability checks, contribution/security guidance and a documented support matrix.

Downloads

  • PageVault-1.4.0.zip: extension, source, documentation and native hosts for macOS, Linux and Windows on amd64/arm64. End users do not need Go or Node.js.
  • PageVault-Extension-1.4.0.zip: extension only; the native helper must be installed separately.
  • PageVault-1.4.0-macOS-unsigned.pkg: universal per-user macOS helper installer. It is unsigned and not notarized; macOS or organizational policy may block it.

Each download has a SHA-256 sidecar. The full ZIP also contains checksums for all six native hosts. Updates are manual; there is no automatic server download.

SQLite schema 1 and extension ID ijkioljfdaaplhaldbdpabckkfcieiee are unchanged. Back up your archive before upgrading, reload the unpacked extension, reconnect agent clients and verify the database path.

Read the installation guide, upgrade guide, MCP setup and readiness/support report.

Verification

Source commit: 6e8267e9bb88b776776c698d0d5ba933a54912b4. All ten CI jobs passed on this exact commit: Go tests/vet, Linux race checks, lint/format/static checks, six cross-builds and vulnerability scans. Linux ran all 72 JavaScript tests with no skips, including native integration. Windows and macOS each passed 63 with nine expected Linux-only skips. npm audit and govulncheck reported no known vulnerabilities.

All six draft assets were downloaded and verified against local bytes, checksum sidecars and GitHub's SHA-256 digests before publication. The universal PKG was expanded and checked with synthetic homes; this is not certification of an interactive 1.4 upgrade or runtime on every distributed architecture.

PageVault stores captures locally. A model provider can receive archive content when your agent requests it through MCP; use a suitable archive and client configuration.

PageVault 1.3.0

Choose a tag to compare

@akarazhev akarazhev released this 28 Oct 16:00

PageVault is a free, MIT-licensed local archive for web pages. The extension saves loaded text, tables, code and metadata in SQLite. Codex, Claude Code and other MCP clients can read the archive through a local process.

For the current English interface and additional reliability protections, use PageVault 1.4.0. The 1.3.0 files and tag are preserved unchanged.

Downloads

File Contents
PageVault-1.3.0.zip Full bundle for Windows, macOS and Linux on amd64/arm64: extension, native hosts, installers and documentation
PageVault-1.3.0-macOS-unsigned.pkg macOS 13+ helper for Intel and Apple Silicon; install the extension separately from either ZIP
PageVault-Extension-1.3.0.zip Extension only; manifest.json is at the root of the extracted directory

Each file has a matching SHA-256 sidecar. GitHub's automatic source archives contain no native binaries. The prebuilt bundle does not need Go, Node.js or a separate SQLite server.

Installation

  1. Extract the full ZIP to a permanent location and open its pagevault directory.
  2. Register the Chrome helper with bash install.sh chrome on macOS/Linux or install-windows.cmd on Windows. macOS users can instead use the PKG. Other browser options are described in the historical installation guide.
  3. Enable developer mode on the browser's extensions page and load the unpacked pagevault/extension directory, or the extracted standalone extension directory containing manifest.json. Keep that directory in place.
  4. Check the connection in PageVault settings, confirm helper version 1.3.0 and the database path, then enable recording for a site and save a page. This historical version has a Russian interface; 1.4.0 is English-only.

The macOS PKG is not Developer ID signed or notarized. macOS and organizational policy can block it. If you trust and have verified the download, follow Apple's instructions for a specific blocked file, where permitted. ZIP distribution also remains subject to system checks.

Features in 1.3.0

  • Page snapshots, version history, unique observed blocks, search and JSON export.
  • Persistent Native Messaging and a durable delivery queue acknowledged after SQLite commit.
  • Local read-only stdio MCP: list_sites, search_pages, get_page, list_versions and get_version, with chunked documents and hash checks.
  • Per-user macOS installation with browser selection and preservation of the active archive path, including previous custom runtime locations.
  • Connection status with helper version, archive path, errors and retry.

Updates and historical validation

Updates are manual through GitHub Releases. Let the queue drain, note and back up the database, quit the browser and MCP processes, keep the extension directory and reinstall the helper for the same browsers. Do not remove the extension during an upgrade. See the current upgrade guide.

At publication, Go race-enabled tests and 47 JavaScript/Chromium tests passed; Linux-only cases were skipped on the local Mac. macOS Installer and Chrome connectivity were checked on macOS 15.7.4 Apple Silicon. All six targets were built; that did not establish runtime coverage on Windows/Linux or macOS Intel. The historical verification report records those results.

PageVault stores the archive locally. A cloud model provider can receive archive content when an agent retrieves it through MCP. See current MCP setup, privacy and the MIT license.
