Group to Channel Binding

Alex Ong edited this page Aug 30, 2017 · 2 revisions

A group is a subset of channels, at certain levels.

An example group is as follows:

What is a group?

Name: Group1
Bindings: [Channel 1 @ 100, Channel 2 @ 50]

When we turn Group1's intensity to 100, we will get Channel 1 @ 100 Channel 2 @ 50

Values are distributed linearly. That means Group1 set to 50 will yield: Channel 1 @ 50 Channel 2 @ 25

Why use groups?

We can use groups when physical lights have different brightnesses but need to create an even wash.
E.g. Channel1 is way brighter than Channel2, but they create a wash together.
Solution - create a group where Channel1 is 70% and Channel2 is 100%.

Creating Groups

  1. Select and set relevant channels.
This is done using Channel setting commands.
Note that only "Select and Set" commands will work (i.e. you can't just select, you must select and set value in one command.
  2. Bind the current selection to a group
This is done by inputting Record Group x

Deleting Group Bindings

This is done by inputting Delete Group x
