Operating system

Should be cross-platform. Currently tested on Win7 x64, Win10 x64 and Orange Pi for Linux

Installing Python

Download and install Python 3.5.2 (32bit) https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-352/ use pip to install the following plugins:

pip install python-rtmidi

pip install pyserial

Other versions will probably work but this is what we are using

  • python (Tested with version 3.5.2)

  • python-rtmidi (Tested with version 1.1.0)

  • pyserial (Tested with version 3.4)

Installing fonts

The correct fonts for usage by the program are inside /libs/fonts.

Windows: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=installing+fonts+windows

Linux: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=install+fonts+linux

Running Application

Main application

The main application consists of 3 parts

  1. Midi reader/forwarder (reads midi signals from daughterboards, forwards to GUI)
  2. DMX Sender (receives channel values from GUI, sends to DMX King dongle)
  3. GUI application

windows: modify and run run-all.bat, or run-all dev.bat. Note that you may have to adjust the script to target the right COM port for the DMX sender. (note it states COM4, however the real port could be COM3, COM5 etc. Use Windows Device Manager to find out what port the DMX King Dongle is using)

linux: run run-all

DeskEmulator

This is a tool to pretend you have a desk when you really don't. Useful for sliders etc. Open /DeskEmulator/DeskEmulator.py
