Release list
Muzo 0.0.6
Muzo 0.0.6
Updates now live in a quiet application status bar.
What changed
- A slim footer spans the full library window, with a small text pill at the bottom right.
- The update icon and two-line sidebar notice are replaced by a single line showing checking, an available version, download percentage, restart readiness or a retryable error.
- Click Up to date to check again. Download and restart remain explicit actions, with confirmation before playback stops.
- The footer follows your material and light/dark appearance. Keyboard focus stays visible and the footer stays out of the mini player.
Updating
If you are running 0.0.5, use its existing notice at the bottom of the sidebar to download 0.0.6, then choose Restart to install and confirm. After this update, future notices appear at the bottom right in the application status bar.
Muzo checks at startup and every six hours. Close and reopen your installed app to check immediately. You can keep listening while an update downloads.
Linux x64 AppImages and Windows x64 installers support in-place updates. AppImages keep their filename and location, so menu entries and dock pins still point to the same file. Your libraries, playlists, artwork cache, appearance and Dropbox credentials continue to use the existing Muzo profile.
The release includes Linux x64, Windows x64, macOS Apple silicon and macOS Intel downloads, SHA256SUMS, a distribution manifest and Windows/Linux update metadata. These preview builds are unsigned and macOS builds are not notarized. macOS updates continue through a manual installer download.
Muzo 0.0.5
Muzo 0.0.5
Personalise Muzo with a new material and six glowing accent colours.
What changed
- Pulse adds a flat, layered material inspired by Spotify, with light and dark variants.
- Neutral hover surfaces and clear keyboard focus rings keep Pulse controls readable without turning every interaction into an accent colour.
- Choose Glow green, cyan, blue, violet, pink or orange in Settings under Appearance. Classic accents and your current appearance remain available.
- Glowing controls use separate foreground colours for readable text, icons and focus indicators across materials. Glow effects are removed in system high contrast mode.
Updating
Muzo checks for updates at startup and every six hours. In an installed Linux x64 AppImage or Windows x64 build, click Update available v0.0.5 at the bottom of the left sidebar to download. When it is ready, choose Restart to install and confirm. Playback stops while Muzo installs the update and reopens.
If you want to check immediately after this release is published, close Muzo and reopen your installed app. Development builds do not check for updates.
AppImage updates keep the existing filename and location, so menu entries and dock pins keep working. Your libraries, playlists, cached artwork, Dropbox credentials and appearance settings continue to use the existing Muzo profile.
The release includes a Linux x64 AppImage, a Windows x64 installer, macOS installers for Apple silicon and Intel, SHA256SUMS, a distribution manifest and Windows/Linux update metadata. These preview builds are unsigned and macOS builds are not notarized. macOS update notices open a manual installer download.
Muzo 0.0.4
Muzo 0.0.4
This patch fixes restarting Muzo after a Linux AppImage update.
What changed
- The player starts the updated AppImage directly during final shutdown, preserving its launch arguments.
- Updates keep the existing AppImage filename and location, so menu entries and dock pins continue to point to the same file.
- A failed launch displays a message with the installed file to reopen.
- Linux installer CI now exercises an actual AppImage updating and reopening, including its saved library and menu entry.
Updating
If you use Muzo 0.0.3, download this update from the notice at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Restart to install. If Muzo closes without reopening, open your existing AppImage again. Version 0.0.3 contains the old restart code; the replacement file is already installed. This patch fixes subsequent update restarts.
You can also download the Linux x64 AppImage directly. Windows x64 and macOS installers for Apple silicon and Intel are included with matching versions. Unsigned macOS builds continue to use manual downloads. These preview builds are unsigned and macOS builds are not notarized.
Your libraries, playlists, cached artwork and Dropbox credentials continue to use the existing Muzo profile. The complete release includes SHA256SUMS, its distribution manifest and Windows/Linux update metadata.
Muzo 0.0.3
Muzo 0.0.3
This release improves Linux desktop integration, the mini player and application updates.
What changed
- Linux AppImages add Muzo to the application menu on first launch with its blue waveform icon. You can then pin it through your desktop's normal controls. Moving the AppImage refreshes its shortcut; old Cinnamon shortcuts to temporary mounts are repaired.
- The mini player has straight edges. Its icon-only toggle sits at the top right of the full player, above volume.
- A newer release appears at the bottom of the sidebar. Click to download, keep listening, then choose Restart to install when ready. Closing Muzo normally does not install a pending update.
- Windows installers and Linux AppImages can update in place. AppImages keep their existing filename and location so menu and dock entries continue to work.
Installing
Download the Windows x64 installer, Linux x64 AppImage, or macOS disk image for Apple silicon or Intel.
If you use v0.0.2, install v0.0.3 manually once to enable future update notices. Unsigned macOS builds open the release page for manual installation. These preview packages remain unsigned and macOS builds are not notarized.
Each release includes SHA256SUMS, the distribution manifest and Windows/Linux update metadata. Your music catalogue, cached artwork and Dropbox credentials continue to use the existing Muzo profile.
Verification
All three feature PRs completed initial review and fix re-review. The combined changes passed 426 tests plus formatting, lint, strict types, desktop builds and packaging. Native checks cover Windows, Linux and both macOS installer architectures, including real AppImage download integrity, atomic replacement, first-launch menu registration and shortcut repair.
Muzo 0.0.2
Muzo 0.0.2 brings a smaller listening view, more personalisation and native downloads.
Listening
- Switch to an artwork-led mini player with a live queue and rounded native edges.
- Try seven materials, light and dark appearances and ten accent colours, including the refined satin aluminium and Frosted glass styles.
- Source and playlist rows now fill their panels, and mouse seeking no longer leaves a keyboard focus border.
Downloads
- Windows x64: run the setup executable.
- macOS Apple silicon or Intel: open the matching DMG and drag Muzo into Applications.
- Linux x64: allow the AppImage to run as a program, then open it.
These preview packages are unsigned. macOS packages are not notarized, so your operating system may show a security prompt. The release includes SHA256SUMS and a versioned manifest identifying the exact source commit and each installer digest.
Muzo is now MIT licensed. The project site and README include current native screenshots and download guidance. Frosted glass softens artwork within the app; the desktop window remains opaque.
