A visually pleasing listening environment for Spotify. Search for albums, add to your collection, flip through your virtual shelf, and listen- all in the Playbase app!
We wanted to build an app that created an 'analog' feel for listening to your favorite albums on Spotify. Flipping through records is a very satisfying, and we aimed to recreate the experience with this application

Fork and clone the Playbase repo
Navigate to /playbase_backend
Run bundle install
Run rails db:migrate
Run rails s to start the server
In a new terminal (keep the backend server running!)
Navigate to /playbase
Run npm start and type 'y' to start the frontend server in a new port
Playbase uses the Spotify API and Spotify OAuth for authentication.
Begin the program by following the installation instructions above.
Once started, login with Spotify. You must have a Spotify Premium account to use Playbase.
Get started by searching for albums.
Click 'Add to Shelf' to add an album to your collection.
From the home page, flip through your albums.
Listen by clicking 'Play'.
Remove albums from your shelf by clicking 'Remove'.
