Changed
- Much faster driver injection. Each driver pack is extracted once instead of once per image; WinPE, Windows Setup and WinRE get only boot-critical drivers (storage, network, USB, keyboard, touchpad, chipset) while every driver still goes into Windows; WinRE is serviced once and reused in every edition.
- Unselected editions are removed before servicing, and install.wim is compacted afterwards.
- install.wim is always split into .swm files, whatever its size, so one image works on FAT32 USB, in an ISO and saved for later.
- New look in the Andy Kemp Consulting style: copper theme, Inter font, logo header, numbered sections. The app is now called Win11 Image Prep.
- The window fits smaller screens such as a Surface; the operation log can be shown or hidden and starts hidden on short screens.
- Each build stage is timed, with a summary at the end of the log.
Added
- ISO creation works end to end. If the Windows ADK Deployment Tools (oscdimg) are missing, the app offers to install them: it downloads Microsoft's setup, checks it is signed by Microsoft and installs only the Deployment Tools.
- Tools > Check prerequisites... shows what's installed and offers the install.
- Create ISO from a saved image in the saved image window.
- install.esd ISOs (Media Creation Tool) are converted to install.wim during the build.
- Settings:
BootDriverClasses,InjectAllDriversIntoBootImages,CompactImageAfterServicing,AdkSetupUrl.
Fixed
- ISO creation looked for the UEFI boot file in the wrong folder (
boot\instead ofefi\microsoft\boot\). - Older saved images with a single install.wim over 4 GB are split before a USB is written.
Download WinImagePrep_full.exe (single file, no install). Check it against SHA256SUMS.txt.
