v0.7.0 — your models, your endpoint

patch-cc 0.7.0 replaces the Codex gateway with custom models. Register any model an Anthropic-compatible endpoint serves — a proxy such as CLIProxyAPI or LiteLLM, a provider's Anthropic API, or a local server such as Ollama — and Claude Code offers it beside its own: in /model, in the status line, and as a subagent target. patch-cc runs no server. Only the chosen models' requests are diverted; Claude models keep their endpoint, your login and every feature.

What changed

  • Custom models. In the menu, set the endpoint (and a key, if it needs one), then pick from the models it lists. Names, context windows and effort levels are filled in where the endpoint reports them, and every field is editable, a /model alias included. Setup, and what the endpoint must speak: Custom models.
  • The key never enters the binary. The patched binary sends PATCH_CC_API_KEY when it is set, otherwise the key the menu saves (mode 600), read per request, so a new key needs no re-apply.
  • apply bakes the saved selection, and only that. It takes no flags, says what the build cannot honour before it writes, and never contacts the endpoint, so it replays unchanged after a Claude update.

Breaking changes

  • The Codex gateway and the codex commands are removed. For OpenAI models, point Custom models at an Anthropic-compatible proxy that serves them.
  • status and list are removed, and apply no longer takes --from-cache, --brand, --model, --suffix, --org-label, --codex or --codex-port. Choices are made in the menu; apply replays them.
  • A binary patched by 0.6 reads pending apply until it is re-applied with 0.7.

Upgrading

Run uvx --no-cache patch-cc (or uv tool upgrade patch-cc, then patch-cc). Your saved selection loads; anything it names that 0.7 no longer offers — Codex models and the pins to them — is left out, and the menu says so. Set up Custom models if you used Codex, then press s to apply.

0.6 kept Codex sign-in tokens in ~/.local/share/patch-cc/codex-auth.json (under $XDG_DATA_HOME when set). Nothing reads it now; delete it and codex-auth.lock beside it.

Validation

  • GitHub CI passes on Python 3.11, 3.12, 3.13 and 3.14 for the release commit.
  • patch-cc doctor over all 70 held builds, 2.1.210 → 2.1.289: every patch matches, and every baked binary boots.
  • The menu flows — endpoint, discovery, model details, subagent pins, apply — were driven end to end against a sandboxed 2.1.289, and the patched binary switches to a custom model by its alias (/model sol).
  • The 0.7.0 wheel and sdist build and pass Twine metadata checks.
