Compatibility issues on mobile devices

Reviewing the current site as well as the 2.0 site (http://ui-grid.info/docs/#/tutorial/) on an iOS device has some functionality of ng-grid not working. Filtering doesn't work, sorting, scroll bars on the grid do not appear.

Some grid examples on the existing site (http://angular-ui.github.io/ng-grid/) do not show up at all, just blank space where the code and table example would be.

"an iOs device" is a broad range of devices and OS versions. Can you provide more detail?

Hmm. Actually, this is kinda true. I'm on an iPhone w/ iOS 7.1.2, using Safari. No idea how to get Safari version, but I think it's tied to iOS version anyway. A few observations:

1. The ui-info page is really just not responsive at all. I did some updates on it, but didn't notice that. I know someone who has some skills in that area, I'll see if she'd like to help out on that
2. The filters on 103_filtering are completely unresponsive on my iPhone - I can't select the fields, I can't delete the default filter in the gender column
3. Sorting can work if you hit on it enough times, but it's flaky. It sort of feels like you have to tap on the word rather than the column heading, but it was so intermittent I could just be imagining that
4. It has the same scroll alignment issues as OSX Chrome, which are documented elsewhere
5. I can't get the column menus to open, I'm maybe not clicking carefully enough, but I tried a few times so I think it's just generally broken.

My iPad (also iOS 7.1.2) is pretty much the same behaviour on Safari. Interestingly enough it also doesn't work with Chrome on the iPad (can't see how to get it to tell me my Chrome version), so it's not a Safari issue, it's somehow an iOS issue. I know iOS does funky things with widgets on the web so that they can make them look all nice and "iOS-y", maybe that's driving it?

@PaulL1 I didn't doubt that it was a problem, I just wanted to get some more information, just in case it's something tied to a specific iOS version.

Didn't think you doubted, although I confess I had expected it to be less off than it was. I've been using the grid on my iPad in my application without noticing any issues, but clearly I never tried to filter or sort, so I initially doubted when I saw the issue. But having looked, figured I may as well document.

My apologies for the lack of detail on iOS device versions and perception of tactless bug reporting - I was pressed for time and didn't have a moment to delve deep into findings. Paul covered the issue(s) much better than I.

For sorting or interacting with the column menu, this post on SO seems to say that we need to use the touchstart / touchend events: http://stackoverflow.com/a/3303834/888165

It's not only an iOS problem, generally on touch devices with webkit enginge. Since the support for touch scrolling, all touch events are catched and so the click event gets prevented. The code that would need to be adapted is in the uiGridRenderContainer directive.
IMHO another thing is missing for full touch support. If we have a custom scrolling mechanism, it should also support "throwing" with the finger to keep scrolling even if the finger has left the screen.

Since I need to implement that right now, are you interested in the solution or you want to implement it on your own? Or are you already implementing a solution on your own?
