md-autocomplete with md-accent

I'm trying to apply the md-accent color to md-autocomplete by adding class="md-accent" to the md-autocomplete element (the same way I would to an md-button or md-input-container (as in the codepen below)), but nothing seems to be happening.

Is this a bug or am I missing something obvious?
