Early pre-release of the Madden NFL 08 PC recompilation. Tested on two PCs: a laptop (Windows 10 Home, Ryzen 7 7735HS, RTX 4060 Laptop GPU) where it plays smoothly, and a desktop (Ryzen 3 3200G) where the installer worked but games ran too slowly to play. Reports from other PCs are welcome.

What you need

  • Your own extracted copy of Madden NFL 08 for Xbox 360 (Title ID 4541081D), with default.xex in the folder.
  • A graphics card that supports Direct3D 12 rasterizer-ordered views. Many older cards, such as the AMD RX 400 and 500 series, do not and show a black screen. See "Graphics card and processor" in the README.
  • A fast processor. A 4-core, 4-thread desktop processor ran games far too slowly.

Install

  1. Download MaddenNFL08-Recompiled-Setup.exe below.
  2. Run it. Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because the installer is not code-signed. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Choose the folder that contains your default.xex and click Install.

Allow 15 to 30 minutes on a fast PC (28 minutes on the desktop above), plus downloads. If Git or Visual Studio 2022 Community are missing, the installer installs them with winget. Installing Git this way worked in testing; installing Visual Studio this way has not been tested yet.

Notes

  • No game files are included. You need your own copy of the game.
  • See the README for known issues and a manual install.
