Java Tutorial

Introduction

Welcome to the Java Tutorial! This tutorial is designed to help beginners and intermediate developers understand the core concepts of Java programming, from basic syntax to advanced topics.

Prerequisites

Before starting this tutorial, you should have:

  • Basic knowledge of programming concepts.
  • Java Development Kit (JDK) installed on your system.
  • An Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, or VS Code (optional).

Installation

Step 1: Download and Install JDK

  1. Visit Oracle's official website or OpenJDK.
  2. Download the latest stable JDK version.
  3. Follow the installation instructions for your operating system.

Step 2: Set Up Environment Variables

  • On Windows:
    1. Open System Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables.
    2. Add the JDK bin directory to the Path variable.
    3. Verify installation using java -version in the command prompt.
  • On Mac/Linux:
    • Add the following lines to your .bashrc or .zshrc file:
      export JAVA_HOME=/path/to/jdk
      export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH
    • Run source ~/.bashrc or source ~/.zshrc.
