Glimpse 1.0

After over 2 years of development, I'm very proud to announce Glimpse 1.0!

Version Scheme Change

There are a lot of changes in this update, including a change in the versioning scheme.

Glimpse is a fairly stable piece of software, and has enough features to be a perfectly usable music player for many. However, Glimpse is constantly evolving, and after much thought, we decided that it didn't really make sense to keep the 0.x scheme and work towards a 1.0.0. Instead, each new Glimpse version will increment the major version number. So, the next major release will be 2.x. This better represents the way Glimpse is developed and will be the versioning scheme going forward.

API

The API will continue to use Semantic Versioning, and, as the API has not been finalized yet, the API version shipped with Glimpse is 0.1.1.

The API is now available on NuGet, to make plugin development a bit easier.

• Introduced a .gplg file format & packer SDK for easy loading and packing of plugins
  • Plugins can be installed/updated by dragging them onto the Glimpse window
  • Plugins now use a Plugin.json file to provide information about the plugins
  • Plugins are now installed to your OSes equivalent to AppData
• Gave the macOS version a nice icon
• The audio device is now closed after 10 seconds of inactivity, in line with the behaviour of other media players
• Added German localization (#84) (thanks @cacticrown)
• The Windows installer now makes file associations for .mp3, .flac, .ogg, and .wav files
• API Improvements:
  • Plugins can now have their own UI and can easily save configs
  • Plugins can now add audio effects such as delay and reverb
  • Plugins can now define custom toolbar buttons and context menu items
  • Various other improvements and function signature changes
• Added .appimage for Linux
• The window state (such as size and position) is now saved on exit and will be loaded on launch
• The space bar can now toggle between play/pause
• The play queue now correctly displays songs that are not in your library
• The OpenMPT plugin can now play far more tracker files, including .j2b, .umx, and .dsm
• Boosted performance in some areas
• Fixed scaling issues when dealing with multiple displays with different scales
• Fixed dialogs being un-interactable if the main window was smaller than the dialog
• Fixed crash when playing very short tracks
• Fixed crash when plugins failed to load
• Fixed various other stability issues

There are probably more changes that I've forgotten about as I didn't update this list as I went, but these are the main "headline" features, at least that I can remember
