@arcanite24 arcanite24 released this 23 Oct 22:37

Ten days of work since 0.1.0: single player, progression in every game, cosmetics, and a lot of match fixes from
your reports.

New features

  • Single player: seeded games, save and resume, advice, timed twists and leaderboards
  • Progression everywhere: XP from any game, goals, tiered achievements and a wardrobe of cosmetics
  • Capsules: Career's gachapon, with Full Art card styles
  • Painted basic lands, illustrated card backs and painted rings for every plate frame as Career rewards
  • Every player's cosmetics show on the battlefield, pets included
  • Play the AI with a random meta, rogue or fun deck from a format
  • Keyboard play: Space and Enter, Alt for options, number keys for your hand and choices
  • Pick a land's mana from symbol buttons
  • Attack a planeswalker by dragging a declared attacker onto it; mass attacks draw one arrow per stack
  • Arena-like automations, each with its own toggle: auto-pay with dual and tri lands, crewing when only one choice makes sense
  • Icons and text instead of emoji everywhere

Fixes

  • Play cards from the graveyard and exile: lands with Crucible-style effects, flashback, adventurers in exile
  • Look at the top card of your library any time (Realmwalker, Bolas's Citadel) and cast from there
  • Delve, double-faced back faces and manlands now pay and cast correctly
  • Undo only happens at priority, never in the middle of paying
  • Cancel during auto-pay is no longer dropped
  • Auto-pass stops so you can turn a morph face up on your opponent's turn
  • Your seat stays on screen on wide windows, the stage fits 16:10 and 4:3, and crowded rows stay inside their seat
  • Battlefield clicks answer at once instead of waiting for the server
  • Signing in on another tab no longer kicks the first one out

Server and hosting

  • Admin console: an Updates section, and an Update button run by an opt-in updater
  • The AI caps how many options it weighs, so one huge board can't take the server down
  • Card data loads on demand: lighter on small servers

Playmat 0.2.0 for your own computer. One download with everything inside, Java included: install it, open
Playmat, and the game opens in your browser. Play the AI and Career on your own, or have friends on the same Wi-Fi
join you.

Download

Your computer Download
Windows 10 or 11 Playmat-Setup-Windows-x64.exe Run it and press Install.
Mac with Apple silicon (M1 and later) Playmat-macOS-arm64.dmg Drag Playmat to Applications.
Mac with an Intel processor Playmat-macOS-x64.dmg Drag Playmat to Applications.
Linux Paste in a terminal: curl -fsSL https://github.com/arcanite24/playmat/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh Or the .tar.gz below.

Not sure which Mac you have? Apple menu, About This Mac: "Chip: Apple M…" is Apple silicon, "Processor: Intel" is Intel.

The first time

  • Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info, then Run anyway. Playmat is a free fan
project and has no paid signing certificate. Or install from PowerShell, which skips that screen:
    irm https://github.com/arcanite24/playmat/releases/latest/download/install.ps1 | iex
  • macOS may say it can't check Playmat for malicious software. Open System Settings, Privacy & Security,
scroll down and choose Open Anyway. Or install from the Terminal, which skips that step:
    curl -fsSL https://github.com/arcanite24/playmat/releases/latest/download/install.sh | sh
  • The first start prepares the card database. It takes a few minutes, once.
  • Your computer may ask whether Playmat (Java) can accept network connections. Allow lets friends on your network
join; you can play alone either way.

Playing

  • Playmat opens http://localhost:17170 in your browser. Keep the small Playmat window open while you play; closing
    it stops the game.
  • Create an account the first time (it stays on your computer). Accounts unlock Career; untick Player accounts in
the Playmat window to sign in with just a name instead.
  • Friends on the same network open the address the Playmat window shows, like http://192.168.1.20:17170.
  • Card pictures come from Scryfall, so an internet connection helps.
  • Your accounts, decks and Career progress are kept when you install a newer version.
