Arduino IDE does not save the script to the sparkfun arduino uno board in windows 7

Hello.
I bought a sparkfun redboard (arduino uno based) and in the instructions it says that the arduino IDE works with the board in all OSes.
I have the sparkfun board connected and when i save it to the board i get this:

It says: _Serial port COM1 not found, are you sure you selected the correct port in menu, tools > serial ports?_ but the serial port option is DISABLED!

Hi Konrad,

this issue tracker is intended for bugs in the IDE and core files, not for support with getting sketches and your environment to work. A better place for questions like these would be http://forum.arduino.cc/ or, given that you're not using an official Arduino board, perhaps you should contact the redboard folks instead. Could you please close this issue?

As for your actual error, I wonder if the serial driver was correctly installed? The list is grayed out when no valid serial ports are found, I think.
