Cursor is badly positioned after mouse click on the text area.

I have been using Parallax for all my control products. Their a little pricey. So I decided to try UNO.

programming software sucks..

The curser will not go were I need it to be. Its just tearable.

Why would they sell a product that it is so hard to program?

I took me hours because the curser on the screen would just go were ever it wanted, and there was always a square box close to it.

I spent all day tiring to get it to work.

I loaded 1.0.3

I loaded 1.0.4

And the latest version..

They all do the same after a few min. of programming.

Tell me what I’m doing wrong please or I’m going back to Parallax..

Their program software is so much better than theirs.

You think you would try to compete with the same or a better program.

As for your actual issue, am I understanding it correctly that the cursor in the text editor is randomly moving around the screen on its own? Does this happen while you are typing or using the mouse, or also when you are not touching anything? What operating system are you using? If possible, perhaps you can make a screen capture (e.g. a short movie) that shows the problem? It's a puzzling problem and I'm not sure I'm understanding it properly - a capture would probably help there.

So Sorry,

I felt bad after I posted that, but I worked so hard for hours to try to get it to work.

Im a Parallax and Velleman P8061 guy. I started to research Arduino and I thought it would be better for the application i'm working on now.

You can connect sensors to Arduino so much easer than with BS1, BS2 and all their other stamps.

I purchased a UNO and I really liked it till I started to program it.

I will click on the end of a line to edit and it will move the underline marker three to four characters back and over right what I already typed. Did you ever use Microsoft word and by accident hit the insert key. I works like that only 10 times worse..

I have XP Professional. I have and Intel quad core 2.0. I have 6 gigabyte memory and 10 terabyte hard drive space. 4 terabyte empty. This is a gaming computer. The Viedo Card is a NVIDIA 1gig.

My mouse works fine its fast in the program. Its after I click on a line, that's when things go wrong..

I dont have a screen capture program on this machine. I will put one on it if we need to.

Do you have a second computer or laptop to try the IDE on? And perhaps you can try the 1.5 version of the IDE. It's not the official stable version yet, but it should work well enough. Perhaps something changed in there to fix your particular problem.

I tried it on my lap top and 2 other machines that I have at my worksight.

All with the same resault.

We have a old windows 98 machine to program the k8000. I can try installing the program in it.

I tried 1.5 it did the same. I uninstalled every version before installing a new one.

When the new version didnt work. I started with 1.3 and installed all versions till the curent version.

I think theirs something the new version puts in the regiraty that when you install the older version it is still in their. ??????????

I dont know what else to do.

Hmm, having it broken on all of your machines, but not for any other user (you're the first to report this) is really weird. I wonder if there is some setting, customization or program that you applied/installed on all of your machines that causes this.

Since I still don't fully understand what the symptoms are, perhaps you could make a screencast after all? Or perhaps just make a video of the screen using a camera, that might be even easier (and also helps to see what you're doing exactly in terms of clicking and typing).

I'm just puzzled by that "I started with 1.3 and installed all versions till the curent version". Can you confirm with "1.3" you actually meant 1.5.3? Because there is no Arduino IDE version 1.3

You may be right. I uninstalled and reinstalled so many versions. I download so many versions from Google and they all did the same thing.

I worked for 12 hours tring to get this to work..

Look the editor does not work on any of my machines. Thats the bottom line.

Is their some other editor that I can use?

If not I cant use Arduino in anything I build.

Om my Portuguese keyboard layout editor works rerasonable well, however
i notice that i cant type some characters on the arduino IDE, characters
like ~ are just ignored, i have to tyype them on another editor and copy
paste them on the IDE.

Also the IDE depends on java, all your systems have the same java
version? is it updated?

Well thats just so wrong. You should not have to do that.

Thats so wrong that they would put a product out their for people to bye that the programing software does not work right.

Yes they all have the latest version of Java. I updated that to..

In order to understand what you mean with "sucking" we need to know:

• what version of the IDE you're using
• what version of which operating system you're using
• what behaviour you did expect (for example: "I expected to load an example by clicking on one of the entries in menu File > Examples")
• what behaviour you experienced (for example: "once I clicked the File menu, there was no Examples submenu")

As requested, a couple of screenshots could help us a lot: if you're using windows, this guide from Microsoft can help you http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/take-screen-capture-print-screen

I've never had problems tyiping ~ and my layout is an IT-keyboard where the shortcut for ~ is AltGr+ì, maybe you would like to open another issue for that?

I have seen a similar problem in MPIDE (a fork of the Arduino IDE) when
resizing the Font.
