Why not just replace the article with a link to the installation instructions on docs.arduino.cc?:

https://docs.arduino.cc/software/ide-v2/tutorials/getting-started/ide-v2-downloading-and-installing

It seems that this practice of maintaining redundant content in the Help Center and documentation only leads to more work and outdated documentation.

I expect to find only troubleshooting information in the Help Center.

@per1234 Basically, it comes down to whether the drawbacks you mention are offset by:

  • Immediately answering the user's question instead of redirecting them
  • Having the article properly indexed for the Help Center search bar and automated article recommendations
  • More reliable results from the "Was this article helpful?" feedback option (users that choose to click the link are unlikely to return to vote).

In this case, I think it's worth it. The same goes for popular articles like "Select board in port in Arduino IDE" and "Use Arduino with Chromebook", which get lots of views. On the other hand, if the topic is specific and lengthy in relation to the prevalence of the issue, referring to docs is of course preferable. I'm hoping to integrate search results from Docs in Help Center search soon, but in certain areas we ultimately must work within the constraints of our customer service software.
