Colloquily v0.1.10-rc.2 — preview (signed updates)

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 28 Oct 13:37

Colloquily 0.1.10 — Sidebar sized to your window

  • Keep the desktop sidebar at the window height while the main page scrolls.
  • Keep the exam picker and About/version footer visible. In short windows, navigation and Advanced tools scroll independently. Narrow layouts continue to show navigation above the page; focused practice still hides it.
  • Fix an evaluation polling race so a completed response includes the final saved grade, even when grading finishes during the request.
  • Refresh README UI references and explain all eight practice modes, feedback timing and source-checking limitations.
  • Add architecture, engineering standards, case studies and an observed engineering baseline.

Preview and updates

Existing course materials, settings and practice history are preserved. No database schema or AI generation/grading rules change.

This preview uses signed updater payloads. Operating-system publisher trust is reported separately in each platform's trust asset; updater signatures do not establish Apple notarization or Windows Authenticode.

Permanent download links stay the same. Version 0.1.6 and later can receive this version through the signed updater; earlier versions need a manual download.

Local verification before tagging: 126 backend/API tests, 65 domain tests, 17 frontend tests, version/translation checks, production build, locked Rust check, and Chromium/WebKit smoke checks. The browser checks include scrolling, short-window navigation and narrow layout. Native installers and real-model acceptance are checked by the tagged workflow before publication.

Colloquily v0.1.9-rc.1 — preview (signed updates)

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Oct 22:29

Colloquily 0.1.9 — Source insights and clearer session review

  • Filter detected course logistics and outline-only passages out of study evidence, including previously accepted material. Keep originals and historical answers available. Require supported comparison questions and use a separate validation pass with the configured answering model.
  • Fix retrieval so it can return several relevant passages from one document.
  • Insight previews the actual cited PDF page, preserving formulas and diagrams. Includes enlargement, retry, and secondary extracted text.
  • Session results show question-score charts, evaluated/skipped/ungraded counts, and feedback-based suggestions. Submitted answers are visible, repeated feedback is removed, and Previous/Next controls simplify review.
  • End session now finalizes submitted work, clears timers and cannot be reopened by delayed polling. Pending or unreliable evaluations are not scored as zero.
  • Choose 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes using duration cards. Time applies to the whole session, or separately to each subject block, including preparation.
  • Move update controls into About Colloquily, accessible from the sidebar, Settings and native About menu. Include app, storage, privacy and feedback information. Background updates continue without a permanent workspace banner.
  • Refine Settings with English/Deutsch cards that save immediately. Fix progress display and dark-mode contrast; completed jobs use compact confirmations without stale percentages.

Preview and updates

Study-content filters reduce unsupported questions but do not guarantee AI correctness. Check uncertain feedback against the original sources. Existing materials and answers are retained.

This preview includes signed updater payloads. Native publisher trust is recorded separately in the per-platform trust reports and requires configured signing credentials.

Permanent website download URLs remain unchanged. Version 0.1.6 and later can receive this release through the signed updater; earlier versions need a manual download.

Local verification: 124 backend/API tests, 65 core tests and 17 frontend tests passed, along with translation checks, production build, Rust check, and Chromium/WebKit browser regressions. Native installers and real-model learning acceptance are checked by the release workflow before publication.

Colloquily v0.1.8-rc.1 — preview (signed updates)

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Oct 20:27

Colloquily 0.1.8 — Chat and automatic practice evaluation

  • Chat replaces Ask with a local conversation per exam, follow-up context, cited sources and clear mathematics.
  • Practice evaluation starts automatically when all questions are answered or the timer completes the run. Multi-subject runs evaluate after all subject blocks finish. Failed evaluation offers a retry.
  • Fix Mac preview packaging when Apple signing credentials are absent; empty certificate variables no longer trigger a failed keychain import.
  • All eight training modes can start. Unfinished runs offer an explicit Resume option instead of hiding the mode picker. Multi-exam selection is visible in the setup dialog.
  • The bottom of the left sidebar shows the app name, version, current year and rights notice.
  • Includes the guided local AI setup and native-signing support prepared for 0.1.7: start installed Ollama, explicitly download recommended models, and test generation and embeddings.

Preview and updates

This is a preview with signed updater payloads. OS publisher trust depends on configured Apple/Windows signing credentials and is recorded in the release trust reports. Updater signatures alone do not establish OS publisher trust.

Existing permanent website download URLs stay the same. Apps on 0.1.6 or later can use the signed updater after publication. Earlier versions need a manual download.

Local verification: 117 backend/API tests, 65 core tests, 11 frontend tests, translation checks, production build, and Chromium/WebKit practice and chat regressions passed before the version bump. Native release builds and acceptance gates run on GitHub before publication.

Colloquily v0.1.6-rc.1 — preview (signed updates)

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Oct 14:57

Colloquily 0.1.6 — Focused practice and reliable updates

Choose a visual practice card, explore what it trains, then start from a focused
setup dialog. The session shows the question and your answer with minimal
controls; feedback has its own view before you continue.

  • Eight illustrated mode cards retain learning-theory explanations and research
references. Session options live inside the mode dialog.
  • Previous runs are removed from Practice. An unfinished current session can
resume; completed progress remains available from Home.
  • The duplicate setup navigation is removed. Materials handles PDF preparation,
the sidebar handles navigation, and the app name/version stays at bottom right.
  • The tagline is now “Exam workspace” (localized in German).
  • Software updates check on launch, every six hours and after reconnection, with
visible status, progress, a manual install action and an automatic-update toggle.
  • Downloads are verified before workspace backup and installation. Automatic
restart waits for an idle Home screen, offers a 30-second countdown and Later,
and is blocked during practice, processing or unsaved Home edits. Interaction
resets the countdown. Install/restart failures release the workspace lock.
  • Permanent website download links track new releases without website edits.
The signed update feed uses immutable versioned payloads for all three platforms.

Installation and release status

Users of 0.1.5 and earlier must install this version manually once. Those
builds contain a placeholder updater key. After this bootstrap, subsequent
higher-version releases can install through the corrected updater.

This is an OS-unsigned preview, with signed updater artifacts. Apple notarization
and Windows Authenticode remain separate from updater verification. macOS 14+
(Apple Silicon or Intel) and Windows x64 installers are built by CI. Internet is
needed for update checks/downloads; exams, PDFs and answers remain local.

Automatic updates can include previews. Disable the option under Software
updates for manual checking. Backups precede installation, but keep your own
independent copies of important material. Local AI still requires Ollama.

Colloquily v0.1.5-rc.1 — unsigned preview

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 27 Oct 12:35

Colloquily 0.1.5 — Guided setup and explained practice

This preview makes it easier to move from a new exam and lecture PDFs to a
practice session, and explains what each practice mode is designed to train.

What changed

  • A visible setup path connects exam topic, PDF upload, local AI setup and
practice. Exams without prepared questions reopen on Materials, and the
preparation panel is visible by default.
  • Eight practice-mode cards show their learning focus. Each mode has a guide
with a learning goal, concrete practice instructions, timing and feedback
details. The guide is available before and during a run in English and German.
  • Expandable research notes cite studies on retrieval practice, self-explanation,
formative feedback, distributed practice and interleaving. The explanations
distinguish evidence for learning principles from rehearsal of an exam format.
  • The local model library offers Qwen 2.5 1.5B, Qwen 3 4B/8B and Gemma 3 4B,
plus suitable installed models. Download multiple candidates and select an
installed feedback model per exam; other task and embedding settings are kept.
  • Study answers, detailed questions, feedback and source passages render
Markdown, tables and LaTeX math locally. PDF notes have a rendered preview
and Markdown export; processed study passages can also be exported with
their source locations and review labels.
  • Multi-subject selection now reflects the session requirements: two or three
exams for Multiple subjects, exactly three for Full colloquium.
  • Browser regression checks cover formula rendering and exports, first-run
creation, mode guides, research-link handling, language switching and model
selection under the desktop security policy.

No database migration is needed. Existing documents, notes and practice history
remain in the workspace. Automatic equation OCR is not included: check and
correct uncertain extracted formulas against the original PDF. Model choices
are comparison candidates, not benchmarked quality rankings. Speech is not
assessed; practice evaluation uses submitted text.

real-model learning acceptance and the production Chromium/WebKit regression
on the tagged revision. Local AI model weights remain separate downloads.

Colloquily v0.1.4-rc.1 — unsigned preview

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 20 Oct 13:08

Colloquily 0.1.4 — Responsive workspace

The workspace now centers beside the sidebar on large monitors. Pages use the
available workspace width, with smaller padding on narrow windows.

The production browser regression verifies layouts from 390px to 3440px in
Chromium and WebKit, including an open PDF reader, and checks for horizontal
page overflow. This release also includes the PDF loading fix from 0.1.3.

No database migration is needed. Existing documents, notes and learning data
are preserved.

real-model learning acceptance and the production PDF/browser regression.

Colloquily v0.1.3-rc.1 — unsigned preview

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 20 Oct 11:46

Colloquily 0.1.3 — PDF reader hotfix

Fixes valid lecture PDFs failing to open in the installed 0.1.2 preview.
This is an unsigned prerelease.

Fixed

  • The installed app's security policy blocked PDF.js from fetching a temporary
blob URL. The reader now receives bytes directly from the authenticated local
backend, avoiding the second fetch. The security policy remains unchanged.
  • PDF Retry now actually reloads the document. Note-loading and note-saving
failures appear separately and no longer incorrectly label the PDF damaged.
  • PDF auxiliary asset URLs resolve against the app origin for worker use.
  • A release-gating regression checks the production build under the exact
desktop security policy in Chromium and WebKit: visible PDF rendering,
authenticated special-character filenames, navigation, page notes/reopen,
failed PDF retry, and isolated note retry.

Your data

No database migration or reimport is needed. Existing PDFs, notes, exams,
questions, answers, progress and settings are unchanged. Install this version
and open the existing document again.

Downloads

  • Apple Silicon macOS 14+: Colloquily_0.1.3_aarch64.dmg
  • Intel macOS 14+: Colloquily_0.1.3_x64.dmg
  • Windows x64: Colloquily_0.1.3_x64-setup.exe
  • Matching licenses-*.zip, LICENSE, NOTICE and SHA256SUMS.txt

Installers are unsigned and not notarized. Automatic signed updates remain
unavailable for this preview; install the update manually. Do not disable
operating-system security globally. Publication requires all native builds,
real-model acceptance and the new PDF reader regression to pass.

@github-actions github-actions released this 20 Oct 00:11

Colloquily 0.1.2 — unsigned desktop preview

A product UX and reliability update. This is an unsigned prerelease.
Publication requires real-model learning acceptance and native builds for all
three supported targets to pass on this release revision.

What changed

  • Five primary destinations: Home, Materials, Practice, Ask and Settings.
Home combines progress and daily goals; the learning plan expands on demand.
Manage Questions is a secondary Practice view.
  • Offline PDF reader with page navigation, zoom, fit-width, text search and
remembered pages. Personal page notes autosave to SQLite and survive restart.
  • Notes remain separate from lecture evidence. Ask can include them on explicit
    opt-in, with distinct student-annotation citations.
  • Clear slide headings propagate to body text; normalized topic names are reused.
Question classification respects exam ownership and ambiguous cases stay
unassigned. Manual assignment and safe background repair are available.
  • Skipped questions earn zero without invoking AI, show expected answer points,
and remain separate from evaluated-answer averages and topic mastery.
Expandable answer history supports loading older attempts.
  • Exam-scoped AI readiness reuses compatible installed models, avoids repeated
setup prompts and serializes downloads. Materials and Home load less data.
  • English/German labels, adaptive light/dark layouts, reduced motion and keyboard
    navigation are retained.

Data and compatibility

Schema 11 adds page-note storage and manual-topic provenance. Existing exams,
PDFs, questions, answers, correction history, indexes and settings are preserved.
The migration takes a validated database backup first. The application identity
and persistent data directory are unchanged.

its SHA-256 checksum. See installation
and licensing.

Preview limitations

Installers are not Apple Developer ID signed/notarized or Windows Authenticode
signed. Operating systems may warn or block installation; do not disable system
security globally. Automatic signed updates are not enabled for this preview.

Image-only PDFs need an external OCR step. Notes are text only. Optional note
retrieval uses bounded text matching in Ask; it does not feed automatic question
generation. Generated study quality still depends on the local model and source
coverage. A practice score does not guarantee exam readiness.

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Oct 16:13
26add3e

Colloquily 0.1.1 — unsigned desktop preview

UX and learning-quality patch following the 0.1.0 previews.
This is a prerelease, not a signed production release. Publishing requires
successful real-model synthetic acceptance and all three native build jobs.

Downloads

  • Apple Silicon macOS 14+: Colloquily_0.1.1_aarch64.dmg
  • Intel macOS 14+: Colloquily_0.1.1_x64.dmg

  • Matching licenses-*.zip, LICENSE, NOTICE, and SHA256SUMS.txt

Read installation,
the user guide,
and license information.
Download the matching license/source bundle with your installer.

What changed

  • Searchable exam picker, quieter desktop navigation, adaptive light/dark appearance,
English/German workflows and clearer material/source review.
  • Resource-aware local model preparation with installed-model reuse, download
progress/cancellation/retry and preservation of explicit exam settings.
  • All-document/topic question preparation with exact source quotes, grounded
answer points, comparison checks and semantic/rubric duplicate rejection.
No passage-quotation starter fallback or unrelated-question examples.
  • Bounded incremental generation and explicit partial coverage when the local
model cannot produce enough valid questions. Valid results are retained.
  • Skip advances without AI evaluation or answer feedback. Repeated submissions
are idempotent; delayed answers cannot grade the next question.
  • Reprocessing preserves unchanged citation IDs and manual review decisions.
Stale sources do not count toward active practice or current coverage.
  • Existing application identity, workspace paths and schema version are retained.
Backup/restore, historical questions, answers and progress remain supported.
  • Apache-2.0 project license, native/frontend/Python license inventories and
corresponding MPL-covered sources. PDFium replaces PyMuPDF; AGPL components
are rejected by the distribution checks.

Preview limitations

The installers are not Apple Developer ID signed/notarized or Windows
Authenticode signed
. macOS and Windows may warn or block installation. Do not
disable operating-system security globally. Only test files obtained from this
repository after checking their SHA-256 values, and follow your OS's normal
per-application review controls. If policy blocks unsigned apps, wait for a
signed release.

Automatic updates are not available for this preview; install updates manually.
Clean-machine GUI installation and full hardware coverage are not established by
CI alone. Back up existing workspaces before testing. Original course passages
and previously generated study content are not translated retroactively.

Ollama is a separate, guided installation; Colloquily does not silently install
executables. Missing selected model weights are prepared automatically and can
be cancelled. Downloads require sufficient disk space and compliance with the
model provider's terms. Inference remains local; no cloud AI fallback is used.
Small/CPU-only models can be slow or fail coverage checks. Scanned PDFs need OCR
prepared separately; diagram interpretation and complex formula reconstruction
are not automatic. Review generated study content against its cited source.
Local AI feedback can be wrong and is not an official exam assessment.
