Split Windows

It seems like Atom already has support for splitting windows (cmd-k + arrow key) but it would be nice if it was mapped to vim-style shortcuts.

ctrl-w v for vertical split
ctrl-w s for horizontal split
ctrl-w (motion letter - hjkl) to move between splits

And I can't tell if resizing splits is possible, but that would be nice too.

Resizing splits requires core changes (so not currently possible but probably in the future).

I'm 👍 on adding mappings for the splits, @adamalbrecht can you put a PR together?

I have this in my personal keymap, it's not perfect but it matches a pretty good set of vim default bindings. It also behaves in the pretty much the same way as Vim except that it doesn't respect command count. One important binding that I use a lot but couldn't find a reasonable substitute for is ctrl-w o to close other panes. Apart from that this has served me well:

Any objection to putting something like this in the vim-mode keymap?

I see there is already some overlap with #104, I am just going to whip up a patch with the missing bindings.

EDIT AGAIN: actually, now might be a good time to close this and open a new ticket for pane resizing

Nevermind. I finally got it to work but I had to click the buttons exactly at the same time or it didn't split up the screen and I had to do try several times in a row to get it to work. This is just and FYI...

@astericky cmd-k right is a default Atom binding, it's not vim-mode specific. This issue is about vim-mode aliases to Atom pane commands. In any case, it doesn't look like vim-mode breaks the default binding. You might want to check Atom discussions http://discuss.atom.io for advice.
