Reproduced, thanks for the precise report — and it isn't specific to The animated bar hides the cursor on every frame, and the teardown that was supposed to run when the install bails out was gated on a reference count that can never reach its trigger value — clx keeps a strong reference to the progress job in a process-global registry for the life of the process, so the guard was dead code and no error path ever retired the renderer. Fix is up in #1559: the install progress handle now tracks display ownership explicitly and tears the bar down before the diagnostic is rendered, and the CLI's top-level error path retires any other live progress job on the way out. A PTY-driven regression test asserts the last cursor escape on a failing install is a restore. Until it lands, your One gap that fix does not close: Ctrl-C during an install still leaves the cursor hidden, since nothing restores the terminal from a signal handler. Tracking that separately. ERR_AUBE_TRUST_DOWNGRADE. Any install that fails after the progress bar starts painting (unresolvable dependency, network error, trust-policy rejection) exited with the cursor still hidden; only the success path put it back. The animated bar hides the cursor on every frame, and the teardown that was supposed to run when the install bails out was gated on a reference count that can never reach its trigger value — clx keeps a strong reference to the progress job in a process-global registry for the life of the process, so the guard was dead code and no error path ever retired the renderer.
