Reddit JSON reads go through Reddit's Android app API by default, with no web gate, bootstrap or browser (resp.emulation == "reddit_app"). The app install and its token persist in cache_dir (reddit-app.state), and the API's rate limit is honored. Your per-request headers= are not sent on this route. The web path still handles HTML pages, requests with a body or a non-GET method, old.reddit.com, requests that speak for an account (Authorization/Cookie, or a logged-in reddit_session cookie), and any read the app route cannot serve. With resolve=, the route is used only when both oauth.reddit.com and www.reddit.com are pinned. reddit_app=False turns it off. reddit_bootstrap_state() gains app_* keys.
Reddit's verification page is recognized by its structure instead of its wording (Reddit renamed its title and token field), and its form is submitted the way the page's own script submits it.
Reddit's "Prove your humanity" reCAPTCHA page is detected. When a cold page gets it, the inline verification clears it. If the page survives that, it is reported as recaptcha (browser-solved when browser_solver is set) and never returned as content.
A navigation that carries a Referer now sends the matching Sec-Fetch-Site (same-origin for wafer's automatic Referer). It used to send none, which no browser pairs with a Referer.
Chrome and Edge sessions send high-entropy Client Hints only to origins that ask for them with Accept-CH, and resend once on Critical-CH. They send Cache-Control: max-age=0 only on a POST navigation. Both match Chrome.
Embed mode raises ValueError at construction for an emulation (or fingerprint_pool entry) wafer has no captured request shape for; use profile=Profile.SAFARI for Safari. A same-origin XHR-mode GET or HEAD no longer sends Origin.
A Reddit challenge page that is handed back unsolved raises ResponseTooLarge past max_response_size.
