Overview

Notesify Desktop v1.3.4 brings more capable web research, explicit approval for AI note actions, richer SVG visualizations, and improvements to AI request caching and desktop usability.

Iris can now decide when a question requires live web research, retrieve information from supported web sources, and propose note actions for your approval. Meanwhile, the offline-first synchronization engine continues to protect your work against conflicting edits.

🌐 Autonomous Web Search & Retrieval

Iris can determine when a question requires current information or external documentation without requiring a manual web-search toggle.

  • Search providers can fall back across Exa, Parallel, and OpenRouter, depending on configuration and availability.

  • Multiple API keys can be rotated when a provider returns supported authentication, billing, or rate-limit errors.

  • The crawl_url tool retrieves content from public web pages to provide additional context for AI responses.

🛡️ User-Approved Note Actions

Iris can interact directly with your notes, with explicit approval required for note creation and deletion.

  • Interactive ToolApprovalCard components present proposed actions for review.

  • Review proposed note titles and previews before approving an operation.

  • Approve or reject the proposed action directly in the desktop workspace.

These approval steps give users control over sensitive note operations instead of allowing creation or deletion to happen silently.

🎨 Richer SVG Visualizations

Iris can generate SVG-based visualizations in addition to supported Mermaid diagrams.

  • Create visual representations of architectures, concepts, and information.

  • Display responsive vector graphics within the workspace.

  • Show a loading placeholder while streamed visual content is being generated.

  • Sanitize generated SVG markup with DOMPurify before rendering.

⚡ AI Prompt-Caching Improvements

System prompt construction now uses a date anchor formatted as YYYY-MM-DD.

  • Stabilizes the date component of the system prompt throughout a calendar day.

  • Helps maintain reusable prompt prefixes across requests.

  • Supports prompt-cache reuse where the configured provider and caching policy permit it.

The system also uses ephemeral prompt caching for supported requests. Actual cache lifetime and performance depend on provider behavior and configuration.

📋 Improved Desktop Clipboard Support

Copy operations now have an additional fallback for environments where the standard clipboard pathway is unavailable.

  • Adds a document.execCommand('copy') fallback.

  • Improves clipboard compatibility across supported Electron windows and embedded web views.

  • Helps copy buttons and text-selection toolbars work more reliably.

💾 Offline-First Synchronization & Conflict Resolution

Continue working with notes and flashcards when connectivity is unavailable.

  • Local changes are persisted through Dexie and IndexedDB.

  • Offline mutations are queued for synchronization when connectivity returns.

  • Optimistic Concurrency Control (OCC) uses version validation to detect conflicting updates.

  • Conflict handling helps prevent stale writes from silently overwriting newer note content.
