Uncloud 0.1.6
Fix
- No longer stuck on "iCloud is still preparing your photo library". Apple sometimes reports a library as "indexing" for hours, even though your photos are fully available, as iCloud.com shows. Uncloud now carries on instead of waiting. While Apple is still indexing, the very newest changes may only appear in your next export.
Install
Open Uncloud-0.1.6.dmg, drag Uncloud to Applications (replace the old copy), and run it from Applications. This test build isn't notarized, so the first time you open it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon.

Uncloud 0.1.5
New
- Continues where it left off: a new export to the same drive downloads your newest photos first, then picks up exactly where the last one stopped, instead of walking through everything already exported. A final pass checks the part already exported, so a photo added there (such as a back-dated scan) is never missed.
- All in One Folder for iCloud: every photo in a single folder, no sub-folders. If the folder already has files of yours, Uncloud warns you first and leaves them alone.
- Export History in the Backup pane: every export session with its date, time, result, counts and size, plus a detail view for each.
- Drive status: "9,207 already on this drive · 83,808 to go", with a Check Drive button and a clear report of what it found.
- Layout changes are safer: switching the folder layout for an iCloud export warns you that everything would download again, and offers to choose a new folder.
Safer with your files
- Your own documents in the export folder are never moved or counted as photos.
- Nothing is ever deleted. Damaged copies are moved to a hidden set-aside folder, and a move that fails is reported instead of hidden.
- Uncloud never overwrites a file that's already on the drive.
Install
Open Uncloud-0.1.5.dmg, drag Uncloud to Applications (replace the old copy), and run it from Applications. This test build isn't notarized, so the first time you open it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Uncloud 0.1.4
New
- Resumes on its own: if Apple limits downloads, your Mac goes offline, or iCloud is still preparing your library, Uncloud waits and continues automatically. It retries after 15, 30 and then 60 minutes, and also when your Mac wakes or your drive is plugged back in. Resume Now and Don't Resume are there if you want control.
- Checks your drive first: before each export, Uncloud looks at what's already on the drive and shows something like "9,207 already on this drive · 83,808 to go". Progress starts from there instead of from zero. Files that are missing or damaged, for example cut short by an unplugged drive, are exported again. Damaged files are moved to a hidden "set-aside" folder, never deleted. Automatic checks never change your drive; only an export or Check Drive does.
- Export history is saved on the drive, one record per session, ready for the History view coming next.
- New landing page: a cleaner welcome screen with a short benefits carousel.
- All in One Folder layout for the Photos library on this Mac.
Fixes
- When Apple throttled an export of selected photos, every remaining photo was marked failed. Now the export pauses and resumes.
- The "X of Y items" count no longer counts Live Photo videos and sidecar files as separate items.
- Diagnostic logs keep file paths readable while still hiding your Apple ID and tokens.
Install
Open Uncloud-0.1.4.dmg, drag Uncloud to Applications (replace the old copy), and run it from Applications. This test build isn't notarized, so the first time you open it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon.

Uncloud 0.1.3
Fixes
- "Still preparing your library": when Apple hasn't finished indexing your iCloud Photos library, which is common right after signing in or changing account settings, Uncloud now says so. It used to ask you to accept the iCloud terms instead. It also tries again by itself every 5 minutes and whenever you switch back to it.
- Clearer errors: if an export stops, you now see the actual reason from iCloud instead of "code 1". Choose Resume to continue.
New
- Help → Show Diagnostic Logs opens a folder with logs of recent iCloud activity, so you can attach them when reporting a problem. They stay on your Mac, and your Apple ID, email addresses and security tokens are removed from them. Your password never appears in them.
Install
Open Uncloud-0.1.3.dmg and drag Uncloud to Applications, replacing the old copy. Run it from Applications, not from the disk image. This test build isn't notarized, so the first time you open it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon.

Uncloud 0.1.2
What's new
- Storage estimate: see roughly how much space your selection needs, for example "120 of 93,012 selected · about 1.4 GB". The Backup pane compares it with the free space on your drive and warns you before an export that won't fit. For iCloud the figure becomes exact once a background scan finishes.
- "Export started" banner with a Show Backup button, so you know where to follow progress.
- Why Uncloud: the landing page now explains what Uncloud does for you.
More reliable exports
- Cancelling an export, especially during a large video, no longer breaks browsing or your next export. If stopping takes a moment, the app shows Finishing up… and waits before starting anything else.
- Pausing an export of selected photos no longer freezes the library, and resuming a paused download can't corrupt the file.
- Quitting Uncloud during an export, or while it's paused, now stops everything cleanly. Choose Resume after reopening.
- Export All Photos is disabled while an export is paused, so it can't resume a different run by mistake.
Install
Open Uncloud-0.1.2.dmg and drag Uncloud to Applications. This test build isn't notarized, so the first time you open it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon.

What's new
- New app icon: the sun breaking through as the clouds clear.
- New landing page: a welcome, a three-step "How it works", and clear sign-in choices, so first-time users know what to do.
- Cancel no longer freezes the window: it now stops within about a tenth of a second, even on very large libraries. This was fixed after the 0.1.0 build.
