Move in a number of updates that were previously made to riak-debug

- redirect verbose output to stderr - avoid to concatnating syslog and kern.log to messages

This work is for merging a update of riak-debug on #1116, and includes some fixes to work with latest Riak CS.
I tested this on CentOS and Ubuntu manually.
