WebSSH 2.2.1

WebSSH 2.2.1 is a focused mobile usability patch for the terminal-first interface introduced in 2.2.0.

Mobile terminal scrolling

  • Fixed one-finger scrolling of normal terminal history on phones and tablets by applying touch movement directly to the xterm scrollback buffer.
  • Preserved coordinate-aware wheel forwarding when terminal mouse tracking or the alternate screen is active, so tmux, Vim, and similar remote TUI applications continue to receive gestures correctly.
  • Added browser coverage that fills real terminal history, performs a phone-sized pointer gesture, and verifies that the visible xterm viewport actually moves.

Mobile session tools

  • Replaced the hard-to-discover generic mobile shortcuts with a session-oriented bottom dock: Terminal, SFTP, Commands, Metrics, and More.
  • Made SFTP, Commands, and Metrics open the corresponding context for the active SSH session directly.
  • Added capability-aware disabled states when no compatible active session is available.
  • Kept global destinations such as Workspaces, Hosts, File Manager, Command Library, Notes, Quick Connect, Broadcast, Transcript, and account controls available through More.
  • Updated responsive state synchronization, accessibility styling, all six supported locales, and frontend cache versions.

Security and validation

The release source tree at d58ab2801c1ea1c18214fbf3908c8592559b6289 is identical to the reviewed PR #165 source tree and passed:

  • Full Python test suites on Python 3.11 and the production Python runtime
  • JavaScript unit tests and linting
  • Required Playwright browser coverage, including the focused 360 px mobile session and touch-scroll scenarios
  • Disposable OpenSSH/SFTP and encrypted SMB integration tests
  • Redis 7 and Redis 8 rate-limiter tests
  • Dependency-lock and container-threading checks
  • AMD64 and ARM64 image builds, SBOM generation, and high/critical vulnerability scans

Upgrade

Existing WebSSH 2.2.0 installations can upgrade using the normal container update process. Persistent data formats remain compatible.

Backing up the WebSSH data volume before upgrading is recommended.
