PowerShell 7 Runtime Engine, Interactive Server Radar Diagnostics, HUD Docking Fixes & Security Hardening
This release introduces real-time detection and 1-click in-app upgrades for the modern PowerShell 7 (.NET 8/9) runtime, full right-click network diagnostics for the Gaming Server Radar with in-cell editing protection, fixes secondary monitor HUD docking geometry and btop4win setup, and streamlines the distribution package to an ultra-lean footprint.

⚡ 1. PowerShell 7 High-Performance Runtime Engine

  • Live Runtime Detection: Tab 3 (Tweaks & Radar) now actively inspects your PowerShell subsystem and displays live status badges: ACTIVE (v7.x) (green), INSTALLED (PS7) (cyan), or LEGACY (PS 5.1) (amber).
  • 1-Click Background Installation: If running legacy Windows PowerShell 5.1, click ⚡ Upgrade to PS7 (Recommended) to download and install the official Microsoft package via Winget (with direct silent MSI fallback) in the background.
  • Instant Engine Switch: If PS7 is installed on your system while running on 5.1, click Restart in PS7 to switch engines immediately with zero setup.
  • Smart Multi-Path Launcher: GameBooster.exe now scans %ProgramFiles%\PowerShell\7, %LocalAppData%, and PATH to run on the high-speed modern .NET engine automatically, while preserving 100% backward compatibility for vanilla Windows PowerShell 5.1.

🌐 2. Interactive Server Radar & Network Diagnostics

  • Locked In-Cell DataGrid Editing: Fixed the WPF DataGrid behavior where clicking cells opened editable text fields. The radar grid is now strictly read-only and row-selectable.
  • Rich Right-Click Context Menu: Right-click any datacenter target (Valve Frankfurt/London, Blizzard, Riot, AWS, DNS) for instant troubleshooting:
    • 🎯 Ping This Server Now: Immediately tests that individual server and updates latency/quality badges live.
    • ⚡ Continuous Ping Test (Live Console): Spawns a dedicated console running ping <host> -t to track jitter and packet loss during live matchmaking.
    • 🌐 Trace Route to Server (tracert): Diagnoses ISP routing hops to identify network lag points.
    • 📋 Copy Server Host / IP & Details: 1-click clipboard copy for network troubleshooting.
  • Double-Click Shortcut: Double-clicking any server row automatically pings that individual server.

  • Direct btop4win Setup: Replaced fragile winget dependencies with portable GitHub extraction directly to %LOCALAPPDATA%\btop4win, permanently eliminating Windows Terminal 0x80070002 ("file not found") launch errors.
  • Pixel-Accurate Multi-Monitor Snapping: Windows Terminal now reliably docks to your exact saved coordinates (hudX, hudY, hudW, hudH) across secondary monitors.
  • Clean Process Lifecycle: Closing Game Booster automatically terminates active docked HUD terminals and telemetry processes (btop4win, btm, PingMonitor).
  • Eliminated Installer Spam: Fixed repetitive "Installation Complete" popup loop upon dependency installation.

🛡️ 4. DataGrid Safety & Ultra-Lean Distribution

  • System-Wide DataGrid Protection: Applied IsReadOnly="True" across all tables (Game Library, Whitelist, Session Restore, Crash Diagnostics) to prevent accidental text cursor activation.
  • Zero Asset Bloat: Stripped non-essential PNG showcase screenshots from release archives, reducing download package size to an ultra-lean ~103 KB.

📦 Installation & Upgrade

  1. Download GameBooster-v1.2.2-Release.zip from the Assets below.
  2. Extract the archive into your existing GameBooster folder (or a new folder).
  3. Run GameBooster.exe (runs elevated with embedded UAC administrator manifest).
  4. (Recommended) Under Tab 3: Tweaks & Radar, click ⚡ Upgrade to PS7 or Restart in PS7 to experience the modern high-performance engine!
