Release list
Keepr 3.1.119
Keepr 3.1.119
What's new in this update
- Keepr name on welcome and build files, thread slide out, photo stack fixes
- New app icon (Night)
- Changelog: typing indicator
- Your own typing indicator: up to three emojis with an animation (bounce, wave, pulse) and a phrase, with Surprise me and Reset; shared in direct chats so other Keepr users see it while you type. Appearance settings are now called Customisation
- Changelog: sounds and background check
- Keepr's own notification sounds (Keepr chime, Pop, Bell, Pluck, phone default or silent; Settings > Notifications, with a play button), and a check every 15 minutes that starts Keepr again in the background with a short "Checking for new messages" notification if the phone has stopped it
- Keepr name in the remaining places: Support Keepr, recovery key file name, workflow names, docs and website texts
- Changelog: threads, photo stacks, search
- Fix: missing import for photo stacks
- Threads from a message (long-press > Create thread, pinned in the middle pane, close for good with a yes/no question), photo stacks (4+ photos sent together show as one grid with +N, tap to swipe through), and search in a chat (live results, older/newer arrows, jumps to and highlights each match)
- Changelog: 2026-11-02
- Fix: name clash in the send-failed notification
- Back button in a chat shows how many other chats are unread; a message that can't be sent shows a notification; double tap can now react, reply, quote part, bookmark or copy (Settings > Chats & storage); the highlight on a tapped reply fades after a moment; photos fill the screen in the viewer
- Pictures say Keepr: README and website sharing image wordmark, strict encryption screenshot
- Keepr from the ground up: app ID and iPhone bundle/app group app.keepr.chat, Android namespace app.keepr.chat, settings and message types chat.keepr.*, keepr:// links, Keepr-.apk and Keepr.ipa downloads, Keepr backups folder, repository links blackshadowde/Keepr and website get-keepr.github.io. The Google Play app stays app.vibe.chat (a Play app ID can't change)
- Changelog: new name Keepr
- New name: Keepr. The name shown on the phone, in the app's texts, notifications, iPhone/web app, SideStore listing, release titles, README, privacy policy and website is now Keepr. App IDs, settings, vibe:// links, the backup folder and file format, download file names and repository links are unchanged, so updates, settings and old backups keep working
- README picture and website sharing image describe Vibe in its own words (headline and layout card no longer name another app)
- Changelog: audit fixes
- Audit fixes: in-app updates are checked before installing (exact APK name, SHA-256 from the release notes, and signed with the same key as the installed Vibe; checked off the main thread); Firebase leftovers removed from the build scripts, so "no Firebase" holds for every build; "Discord" removed from the README, website and app texts; privacy policy adds who is responsible, legal basis, retention, your rights, data outside your country, minimum age 16 and changes
- Google Play build: no Updates row in Settings and no Check for updates button in About; Google Play does the updating
- Google Play build: the Updates page no longer checks GitHub for new versions (it showed GitHub releases as available updates); its button opens Vibe on Google Play, which does the updating

Vibe 3.1.117
Vibe 3.1.117
What's new in this update
- Changelog: quote part fixes
- Pull back 3.1.116: removed from the AltStore/SideStore source (its download is being withdrawn); new "Pull back a release" workflow deletes a release and its tag
- Quote part fixes: the reply line above an answer shows the quoted words instead of the start of the original message; picking words is smoother: everything starts picked, tap the first and last word or slide a finger across them (no small text handles)
- Release notes and the AltStore/SideStore listing describe Vibe in its own words: no comparisons with other apps. New releases go through scripts/clean_notes.py, and a "Clean release notes" workflow rewrites the notes of past releases
- Changelog: swipe and hold to quote
- Swipe and hold to quote: swipe a text message to reply as before; keep holding past the reply point and the arrow turns into a quote mark with a second vibration, release to pick the words to quote. The first 3 swipe-replies show a short tip about it
- Changelog: quote part
- Quote part of a message: long-press a text message > Quote part, drag over the words and tap Quote; the reply bar shows "Reply to quote from name" with the words (tap it to pick again), and the reply is sent with those words as a quote that every Matrix app shows. New features can be highlighted with VibeNewHint (a glow sweep and a "New" label for the first 5 times); Quote part is the first to use it
- Changelog: instant shared media
- Shared media, links, files and voice messages open instantly: what's already on the phone from the chat shows first, older history is fetched from the server afterwards in smaller pages (300 instead of 1000 events per "Load more")
- Changelog: thread tree and text sticker switch
- Thread pane as a tree: a line down the side, answers to an older message indented under it with a curve, no repeated reply line above every message; and a Settings > Chats & storage toggle for the text stickers shown above the text box while typing (on by default)
- Changelog: correct the thread pane commit link after rebase
- Changelog: live thread pane
- Thread pane: stays open after sending; your reply rises from the text box into the thread and shows the chat's status dots as it goes (encrypting, sent, delivered, read); replies from others and status changes appear live while the pane is open

Vibe 3.1.115
Vibe 3.1.115
What's new in this update
- Changelog: server rail + button fix
- Server rail: the + (new chat or group) at the end of a full rail was hidden under the profile bar and couldn't be scrolled into view; the rail list now leaves room for the bar (100 px)
- Changelog: Android drag and drop fix
- Android drag and drop: photos and videos dropped from other apps no longer fail with "Cannot open file, path = content://..."; desktop_drop's own Android listener (on the content view, so it got drops before Vibe's handler) is removed on every resume, so Vibe's handler copies the dropped file first
- Changelog: Google Play app ID app.vibe.chat
- Google Play version uses app ID app.vibe.chat (com.vibe.app is taken on Play by another developer); GitHub keeps com.vibe.app, so existing installs and chats are untouched
- Changelog: Google Play policy changes (Report in the message menu, terms of use, Play build without photo-library permission, storage permissions limited, Play name)
- Google Play policies: Report in the message menu, terms of use (with child-safety section) agreed to on the sign-in screen, Play build without photo-library permission (system photo picker, gallery saving without permission), storage permissions limited to the Android versions that use them, Play name without the Matrix trademark
- Licences: font licence texts ship with the app and appear with every library's licence under About > Open-source licences; sticker fonts credited; README states the AGPL modified-version notice, bundled third-party material and a Discord trademark disclaimer (also on the website); Play listing without other brands; licence check for every Dart package in the security scans
- Security scan notes: every MobSF finding explained with its real source (both CBC hits are library code: AndroidX Biometric's dummy key for the fingerprint prompt, ExoPlayer's HLS AES-128 decryptor), what was fixed and what is by design
- Google Play: workflow that builds the Play app bundle (.aab), listing and Data safety pack in docs/play, account deletion page on the website
- Google Play build: no built-in updater when built with VIBE_STORE=play (opens the Play Store instead); background service declares only the two types Vibe uses (messaging connection, short task), unused camera/microphone/screen-capture types removed
- Website and README: install and update Vibe with Obtainium (straight from the GitHub releases)
- Android hardening from the MobSF scan: boot receivers no longer open to other apps, unused library parts removed (Assistant shortcut trampoline, profile installer receiver), no unverifiable matrix.to link handler. Website and README: 0 of 432 trackers, security scans explained
- Security scans: show MobSF high-risk details, trackers, abused permissions and secrets on the run page
- Security scans: read MobSF code findings in either report layout
- Security scans: show which file or library each MobSF code finding comes from
- Security scans: findings shown as warnings on the run page; CodeQL action v4
- Security scans workflow: CodeQL (release workflows), OSV-Scanner (known holes in dependencies), MobSF (OWASP MASVS checks on the released APK); separate from releases
- Notifications and previews: text stickers say 'sent a sticker' (not 'sent a picture'), no emojis in message, notification and system texts (all languages), 'sent a photo', 'sent an audio message', 'sent a voice message'. Thread pane: iPhone-style sheet slide (Apple's sheet curve), no live blur on Android (it made the slide stutter), messages slide in only after the pane lands
- IPhone build: choose which Mac to build on (Intel ones when GitHub's Apple-silicon Macs are busy), and give up after 60 minutes instead of hanging
- IPhone: the IPA's build number now matches the AltStore/SideStore source (it was always 1, so SideStore refused to install 3.1.114); the build stops if they ever differ
- Website: Download APK opens the newest release's notes, size and date with a direct download button (falls back to GitHub if the release can't be read); release notes skip the AltStore bot commit

Vibe 3.1.114
Vibe 3.1.114
What's new in this update
- Reply thread pane: smooth open and close. The keyboard no longer opens during the animation (it resized the pane mid-move), closing slides the pane down whole instead of fading it over the chat, messages slide in after the pane settles without overshoot, lighter blur
- Website: VirusTotal result up front: a 0/68 badge in the hero, a 'Scanned in public' section right after it with the release, result, SHA-256 and report link (updated live from the newest release notes), and a Scan link in the menu
- Reply thread pane grows out of the tapped message and shrinks back into it; thread messages slide up one after another; the reply line in the chat joins both avatars (the sender's and the small one of the person replied to)
- Reply threads: open instantly and slide in smoothly (keyboard after the slide, fixed blur, drag down to close); tapping a quoted message opens its thread when it has one. Website and repo explain how each release is checked (VirusTotal, SHA-256); outdated Listening to / Firebase / notification server mentions removed
- Changelog: fix the security audit commit link
- Reply threads open only for messages with 2+ replies and look like the chat (same bubbles, names, text box); releases show the APK SHA-256 and a VirusTotal report
- Security audit fixes: call links limited to call servers (no camera/mic for other sites), link previews off in encrypted chats, Firebase removed from Android builds, keep the released app ID com.vibe.app, unused permissions removed, privacy policy made exact

Vibe 3.1.111
Vibe 3.1.111
What's new in this update
Install fix
- Vibe installs again on phones where Play Protect blocked it. Google blocks any downloaded app that can read notifications; Vibe only used that for the "Listening to" music status, so that feature is switched off for now
Chats
- Reply window: replying inside a conversation of replies opens it over the blurred chat with its own text box; photos, videos and files can be sent as replies too. Send, and it closes
- Dragged-in photos and files wait above the text box and go when you press send (with your text)
- Mentions look like the @name pill while you type
- Role tags (Owner, Admin, Mod) next to names in groups, and a group tag you pick under your profile
- Search members in groups and communities
- Group permissions are simply Everyone, Moderators or Admins
- Admins can delete a group or community
People and sharing
- Block someone from their profile
- Share my Vibe ID shows a QR code and shares a link that opens Vibe and starts a chat
Account and security
- Unlocking messages on a new device explains where to accept the request, with a Send again button
- Password and email open your server's account page (matrix.org and others)
- Security fixes from FluffyChat: pictures only load from your Matrix server, the recovery key copy button never opens the share sheet, resetting your key keeps your old messages
- iPhone: notifications use Vibe's own app group and close the database when done
Android and web
- The back gesture closes the open pane instead of the app
- Web: larger layout in wide windows, Vibe's name and colours in the browser, and an optional "Log out when the browser closes"
