Supported Platforms
BDE has been built and tested on the Linux distributions/versions listed below. In some cases, special steps are required to build on a particular distribution or version; in those cases, they are noted along with that entry. Except where noted, BDE was built using the distribution's standard toolchain (compiler, linker, C++ standard library, etc.).
All distributions supported using 32-bit x86 or 64-bit x86_64 processors:
- Debian 6.0
- Debian 7.0
- Fedora 17
- Fedora 18
-
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9
- Note: CentOS 5.9 and Oracle Linux 5.9 should also support BDE since they are nearly identical to RHEL 5.9.
- Note: RHEL 5.9 includes Python 2.4.x, which is not compatible with the build system that BDE uses. Python 2.6 can be installed from the EPEL repository to solve this problem.
-
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4
- Note: CentOS 6.4 and Oracle Linux 6.4 should also support BDE since they are nearly identical to RHEL 6.4.
- Ubuntu 12.04
BDE has been built and tested on various versions of Microsoft Windows. BDE requires Visual Studio 2010, Visual Studio 2013, or Visual Studio 2016.
BDE has been built and tested on a number of Unix and Unix-derived platforms.
-
Apple Mac OS X Darwin Kernel 15.3 (El Capitan) with Apple LLVM version 7.3.0 (clang-703.0.28) (xcode 7.3)
-
Solaris 10 (SunOS 5.11) on 64-bit SPARC with either Sun Studio 12.2
-
IBM AIX 6.1 64-bit POWER with IBM XL C++ 12.01.0000.0012
