🐑 Pi Herdsman v0.32.1

More reliable Agent delegation and modernized dependency management.

This patch release addresses assignment-lock contention during delegation, introduces automated dependency updates, and strengthens runtime validation.

🐑 More reliable Agent delegation

Accepted Agent assignments no longer fail simply because cleanup encounters a busy assignment lock.

  • Preserved assignments: Successfully acknowledged delegation remains valid during cleanup contention instead of incorrectly reporting agent_busy or rollback failure.
  • Clearer failures: Simulated continuation tests now report unsuccessful delegation promptly instead of waiting for a timeout.

Existing ownership, assignment integrity, and cleanup safeguards remain intact.

📦 Automated dependency maintenance

Herdsman now uses Renovate to propose dependency updates, with manual review and existing CI validation.

  • Updated dependencies: Node.js 26.12.1 Docker images, TypeBox 1.4.3, Tailscale, mise, and GitHub Actions.
  • Broader compatibility: The optional Pi Codex Conversion peer dependency now accepts v4 alongside v3.
  • Controlled updates: Pi runtime adoption, Node.js support policy, and Herdr version/checksums remain deliberately managed.

The Node.js Docker image update incorporates an upstream security release without changing Herdsman's minimum supported Node.js version.

✅ Stronger integration validation

Manager-handoff smoke testing now requires verified Lead process identity before accepting assignment readiness, improving detection of incomplete or contradictory runtime evidence.

Note

The assignment cleanup fix has deterministic regression coverage, but the underlying cause of every historical intermittent delegation or smoke-test stall has not been established.
