Panespace 0.1.0

The first release of Panespace: an i3-style tiling window manager for macOS. It needs no SIP changes and runs on the Accessibility permission alone.

Highlights

• i3 tree layout with horizontal/vertical splits plus tabbed and stacking layouts. Reads i3 config syntax from ~/.config/panespace/config.
• Instant workspaces that don't depend on macOS Spaces. Multi-monitor support, scratchpad, binding modes, for_window/assign rules.
• Immersive mode auto-hides the menu bar and Dock.
• A workspace indicator in the menu bar, plus an i3-msg-style CLI: panespace msg ….
• $mod can be alt, cmd, ctrl+alt, hyper, or caps (Caps Lock remapped with hidutil, no Karabiner needed).

Install

1. Download Panespace-0.1.0.zip, unzip it into ~/Applications, and open the app.
2. The app is signed but not notarized. On first launch, right-click it and choose Open, or run:
   xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Applications/Panespace.app
3. Grant Accessibility access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

Caps-0.1.0.zip is the optional companion app, which turns Caps Lock into a programmable key per app.

Requires macOS 13 or later.
